BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College Head Golf Coach Kevin Edwards '96 has been elected as one of the three members in the Class of 2017 to be inducted into the Lehigh Valley Golf Hall of Fame on November 1 at Green Pond Country Club.
Edwards recently finished his seventh season leading the Moravian program after a year as co-Head Coach with John Makuvek in 2009-10. Edwards was named the 2016-17 Empire 8 Conference Coach of the Year for the second time in three years after guiding the Greyhounds to a third place finish at the conference championships as Moravian had the lowest team score during the spring 36 holes in April at the Hershey Country Club. Edwards joins Makuvek in the Lehigh Valley Golf Hall of Fame, having introduced his mentor during his induction in 2009.
As a player at Moravian, Edwards helped the Greyhounds to an undefeated season including a Middle Atlantic Conference Championship in 1994, and he earned All-MAC honors in 1994 after finishing in a tie for seventh and 1996 when he finished fifth.
In addition to coaching at Moravian, Edwards is currently the PGA Director of Golf at Olde Homestead Golf Club in New Tripoli. He has also worked at the Lehigh Country Club, Green Pond, Southmoore Golf Course, Riverview Country Club and Woodstone Golf Club over the last 20 years.
Edwards will be the sixth member of the Lehigh Valley Golf Hall of Fame with a connection to Moravian including Makuvek, who was coach of the Hounds from 1968 through 2010, Harold Bilheimer '42, who served as coach for the Greyhounds from 1952 to 1961, Mike Zambelli '75, Rich Kovacs '75 and Karl Gilbert '80. Zambelli and Kovacs both played on the Greyhounds' 1974 MAC Championship squad while Gilbert was selected to the MAC Century Team in 2013.
