Midseason Report - January 30, 2012

The Moravian College Greyhounds are now two games into the second half of the Landmark Conference regular season schedule and we are very excited about our chances of qualifying for the conference playoffs.  After last weekend’s successes at Goucher and Catholic our record in conference play is 6-3 and we are tied for second with Susquehanna and Juniata, just one game behind Scranton at 7-2. We are led on both ends of the floor by junior guard DJ Strayhorn and forward Garrett Johnson who,  like our entire team, have raised the level of their play at the most important time of the season.  Our goal at the beginning of the season was to continue to improve throughout the season and play our best basketball at the end of the season.  Our team has also become an excellent road team as we are 3-2 on the road in the conference and 5-4 overall.  We are still a relatively young team as there is only one senior in the starting lineup and seven of our first ten players are underclassmen.  We become more experienced as the season progresses and our close early season losses have now become victories.  Our final three home games (February 3rd and 4th and February 18th) all promise to be excellent games as they are against the three teams tied with or ahead of us.  We hope that our fans will join us for the excitement.
