BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's outdoor track & field team competed against 26 other schools Friday and Saturday in the Coach P Invitational at Moravian College on the Timothy Breidegam Track & Rocco Calvo Field.
This is the ninth straight year that the Greyhounds have hosted the meet in honor of former coach Doug Pollard, who passed away in 2007. The meet also includes many alumni returning to compete in their former events.
Moravian had a total of ten top 10 finishes as well as a relay squad in the top 10. Senior Mary Kate Duncan was the runner-up in the javelin with a toss of 45.30 meters (148-7), a distance that puts the defending NCAA Division III National Champion to the top of the Track & Field Results Reporting System list in her first action of the spring.
Senior Trista Cunningham placed fifth in the discus with a toss of 37.88 meters (124-3) while senior Casie Cronk was tied for sixth in the high jump at 1.60 meters (5-3). Senior Beth Ann Davies finished third in the pole vault at 3.35 meters (10-11.75).
On the track, sophomore Carly Danoski was the runner-up in the 1,500-meter run n 4:53.99 while senior Sarah Hughes was fourth in the race in 4:55.93. Sophomore Ashley Rohrer finished sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 12:38.45 while sophomore Rachel Mikols was tenth in the race in 13:40.12. Junior Anna Osman was seventh in the 400-meter hurdles while freshman Grace Gilbert took tenth in the 5,000-meter run on 20:06.32. The Greyhounds 4x100-meter relay team of juniors Amari Schooler and Jordan Luciano and freshmen Morgan Weaver and Aimee Badman was eighth in a time of 49.85 seconds.
Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Friday and Saturday, April 20-21 when the squad hosts the annual Greyhound Invitational at Timothy Breidegam Track and Rocco Calvo Field. Friday's action will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Saturday's competition starting at 10:00 a.m.
