Trio of Greyhounds Honored on College Sports Communicators Baseball Academic All-District
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian University graduate student Chris Pow, senior Matt Madigan and sophomore Ross Huffman have been honored on the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Baseball Team for NCAA Division III schools.
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian University graduate student Chris Pow, senior Matt Madigan and sophomore Ross Huffman have been honored on the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Baseball Team for NCAA Division III schools.
To be eligible for CSC Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.50 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student and be a starter or significant reserve that has played in 90 percent of the team's game or started 66 percent of the team's contests this year. For pitchers, the minimums are 17 appearances or 25 innings pitched.
By making the All-District Team, the trio is now forwarded onto the national ballot to try for CSC Academic All-America® accolades, which will be announced Tuesday, July 2. Moravian has had 56 Greyhounds named CSC Academic All-Americans®.
Pow, who is working towards his MBA with a 4.00 grade-point average and earned a degree in accounting with a minor in management with a 3.81 GPA as an undergraduate at Moravian, earned a spot as a second baseman on the Landmark All-Conference Honorable Mention squad in 2024, and Pow made Landmark All-Conference Second Team in 2021. Pow hit .296 this spring to go with 34 hits, 23 runs, nine doubles, three home runs and 23 RBIs. Pow finished his career with a .323 batting average, 152 hits, 87 runs, 32 doubles, two triples, five homers, 91 RBIs, 79 walks, a .425 on-base percentage and a .431 slugging percentage, and he recorded 218 putouts and 228 assists in 139 career games. Pow was a member of the Moravian Dean's Honors List seven times, Moravian's Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society and a four-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.
Madigan, an economics major with a 3.85 grade-point average, was selected the 2022 Landmark All-Conference Second Team. Madigan hit .295 this spring with 38 hits, 29 runs, seven doubles, a triple, two homers, 14 RBIs and 24 stolen bases. In his career, Madigan had a .287 average to go along with 140 hits, 113 runs, 22 doubles, two triples, a pair of home runs, 55 RBIs, 39 walks, 50 stolen bases, which is tied for third in program history, a .358 on-base percentage and a .353 slugging percentage, and he had 387 putouts and four assists in the field. Madigan has been a member of the Moravian Dean's Honors List seven times, Moravian's Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society and a three-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.
Huffman is a political science major with a 3.75 grade-point average. Huffman posted a 3-3 record on the mound over nine appearances with seven starts, and he tossed 41 innings with 27 strikeouts. In two seasons, Huffman is 4-6 with a save in 18 appearances with 14 starts, and he has 57 strikeouts in 77.2 innings of action. Huffman has been a member of the Moravian Dean's Honors List three times and will be a member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll this spring.
