Men’s Basketball Defeated by Rutgers-Camden, 64-49

Senior center Blake English scored 12 points, including a 6-of-6 mark from the free throw line, in the first half as the Greyhounds (6-7) trailed 33-30 heading into the intermission. Moravian shot 27 percent from the floor during the final 20 minutes, scoring 19 points. Meanwhile, Rutgers-Camden turned up the heat with a .522 shooting percentage in the second half to pull away for the victory.
Senior center Cameron Cullen scored 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting, while sophomore forward Matt Bosch netted nine and senior guard Kenny Gula had seven. Senior point guard Izel Dickerson was 0-for-7 from the floor, but grabbed six rebounds, dished out five assists and came away with three steals in the loss.
After Cullen tied the game at 8-8 with a layup, the Scarlet Raptors (3-11) went on a 14-4 run to take their first double-digit lead at 22-12 with 9:36 left in the first half. Rutgers-Camden would stretch the lead to 27-14 two minutes later.
The Greyhounds battled back with an 8-0 run led by English and Bosch to cut the lead to 27-22. English completed a three-point play with 2:35 left in the half to bring the score to 31-29 before the Raptors extended the lead to 33-30 heading into halftime.
Rutgers-Camden set the theme of the second half by scoring the first four points, but the Greyhounds put together another run to take their first lead of the game with 12 minutes remaining in the contest.
Cullen tossed in three points and Gula finished back-to-back fast-break layups to cap a 7-0 Moravian run to give the Hounds a 42-41 lead.
Rutgers-Camden responded with a scoring run of its own, netting six straight points to take the lead back for good. Bosch's layup with 7:30 remaining brought the score to 48-46 in the Raptors' favor, but Rutgers-Camden would rattle off another nine straight points to take a 57-46 with 4:19 left.
The Greyhounds went more than five minutes without a point as the Scarlet Raptors held a lead down the stretch to clinch the victory.
Moravian won the rebounding battle 33-30, but after starting the game 9-of-10 from the free throw line, Moravian missed 11 of its next 20 from the charity stripe to finish the game 60 percent from the line.
The Greyhounds return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 15 for a home Landmark Conference game against Drew University at 7 p.m.
