Greyhounds Drop Landmark Conference Contest to Catholic in Return to Johnston Hall
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men’s basketball squad returned to Johnston Hall for a three-game homestand after three consecutive road contests, but the Greyhounds dropped a 74-51 decision to visiting The Catholic University of America in Landmark Conference action Sunday afternoon.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's basketball squad returned to Johnston Hall for a three-game homestand after three consecutive road contests, but the Greyhounds dropped a 74-51 decision to visiting The Catholic University of America in Landmark Conference action Sunday afternoon.
How It Happened
- Freshman forward Mike DiPietro scored just 12 seconds into the game to give the Hounds a 2-0 lead and senior guard Matt O'Connor drilled a three-pointer on Moravian's next possession for a 5-2 edge. The Cardinals then scored the game's next 15 points to build a 17-5 lead. Sophomore guard Greg Eck hit two free throws to end the Catholic run but that would be as close as the Blue and Grey would get in the first of the first half as the Cardinals led 41-20 at the intermission
- Eck opened the second half with a jumper for Moravian but Catholic would eventually push its edge to 30 points at 61-31 with 12:04 still to play. The Greyhounds answered with an 11-0 run as freshman guard Tyler Mish hit a fast break lay-up at the 8:46 mark to make it a 61-42 contest. Eck would pull the Hounds within 14 points at 63-49 with a three-pointer with just over six minutes to play but the Blue and Grey would be limited to just two points the rest of the way
Firsts for the Hounds
- Freshman guard Alex Dietz made his first career start for Moravian and had six points
Inside the Numbers
- Mish netted a career-high seven points
- Eck was the only Greyhound to reach double figures, netting a team-high 10 points for his 13th career game in double digits
- Sophomore guard/forward Joe Paulillo and freshman guard C.J. Weber each grabbed a career-best four rebounds
- After shooting just 17.9 percent (5-for-28) from the floor in the first 20 minutes, the Greyhounds connected on 12-of-26 field goal attempts (46.2 percent) in the second half
