Greyhounds Name Bone, Stafford & Steinbach as 2021 Men’s Soccer Captains
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men’s soccer program has named graduate student Michael Bone, senior Jared Stafford, and junior Dave Steinbach as captains for the 2021 season.
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's soccer program has named graduate student Michael Bone, senior Jared Stafford, and junior Dave Steinbach as captains for the 2021 season.
"Congratulations to Mike Bone, Jared Stafford and Dave Steinbach for being named captains for the 2021 season," said fourth-year Head Coach Bob Wilkinson. "All three have made major impacts to our program both on and off the field and we are excited to see how they will continue to impact the program this year and beyond."
Bone is returning for his fifth year with the Hounds' as the starting goalie, making 31 starts and playing in 34 total matches during his career. Bone has seen 2,926 minutes of action during his tenure, making 143 saves for a 1.66 goals-against average. "This will be the third year Mike has been captain," added Wilkinson. "He has been a great leader for us the last couple years and we are excited he returned for a fifth season."
Stafford, a defender, enters his senior year making 26 starts for the Blue & Grey. Stafford has scored five goals for 10 points in the 31 games he has played. Wilkinson stated, "Jared is a four-year starter and has a tremendous work ethic and leads by example."
Steinbach, a midfielder, made five starts for the Greyhounds in the 2019 season and appeared in 19 games to contribute four goals, two which were game-winning goals, for eight points. "Dave is a hard worker who pushes the team in season and out of season to be better every day," commented Wilkinson.
The Greyhounds are schedule to open the 2021 campaign on Wednesday, September 1 with a non-conference match against Penn State-Abington under the lights on John Makuvek Field, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
