Men's Tennis Tops Drew to Finish Landmark Campaign

The Greyhounds reached the 10-win plateau for the first time since the 2008-09 season with a 10-6 record, and the squad will be the third seed in the 2015 Landmark Conference Tournament after a 6-2 conference slate and head to second seed Goucher College for a semifinal match on Tuesday, April 28.
Against the Rangers Wednesday, Moravian jumped out to 3-0 lead after the doubles action. Senior Lewis Cooper and sophomore Giovanni Lombardi gave the Hounds a 1-0 lead with an 8-2 win at second doubles. For Cooper, it was his 42nd career doubles victory to move within one win from the school record. Junior C.J. Widdifield and freshman Dan Wilson had an 8-3 victory at third doubles. Juniors Matt Tuorto and John Wylie finished off the sweep as they rallied from a 7-2 deficit at first doubles for a 9-7 triumph. The win moved the pair into a tie for ninth in school history with 34 career doubles wins.
The Blue & Grey went on to claim five of the six singles matches in straight sets to secure the victory. Tuorto was the first off the courts with a 6-1, 6-1 win at first singles, the 30th victory of his career, while Wylie clinched the winning fifth team point with a 6-2, 6-3 triumph at second singles. Cooper earned his 41st career win with a 7-5, 6-0 victory at third singles while Widdifield earned a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at fifth singles. Wilson finished off the match with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) victory at sixth singles.
Moravian is scheduled to finish off its 2015 regular season on Friday, April 24 in a non-conference match versus rival Muhlenberg College starting at 4:00 p.m. at Hoffman Courts in Bethlehem.
