Where are you working/interning this summer?
- Lyra Lender Services in Lahaska, PA
Please describe your day-to-day responsibilities in this position.
- I will be working with banks, lenders and borrowers and helping put together their financial packages so they can obtain funds needed for their business. I will be looking at balance sheets, income statements, and their cash flow analysis.
What made this experience appealing to you?
- This experience was very appealing to me because of the experience that it offered me to gain. I believe that this internship will be a great opportunity for me to gain more of an understanding of the finance world and be a great learning experience to help grow my skills and help me figure out what I want to do in the future. This experience is also something that I believe will help set me up and prepare me for what comes after college which will be very beneficial for me.
How does this experience relate to your career or life aspirations? What are you looking to personally get out of it?
- This internship will be a big learning experience for me and even though it's not exactly what I want to do in the future, the things that I will be learning during this internship will help me in my future career and help me become more knowledgeable. I hope to just gain new skills and experience that I can't get in the classroom. I want to get the skills and experience that I can only get through this internship and really just an understanding of what my future jobs could be like.
How has your athletics career prepared you for this role?
- Athletics have given me a lot of life skills that have prepared me for this. It's given me the work ethic and dedication needed to help get me to this point but also to keep growing and gain the most I can from the internship. Also athletics has led me to meet a lot of people and coaches who I look up to and have been mentors toward me. Coach Marianna in particular has given me a lot of her time on and off the court. She has given me the resources needed to help get my grades where they needed to be and helped me become a more responsible individual.
What are you looking forward to for this upcoming year for your sport?
- The main thing I'm looking forward to is becoming more of a leader on the team. I really wanna be the person people come to if they need help or advice on things. Whether it's with tennis, school or just life I wanna be there for the team and help them through whatever I can. I also want to keep growing as a player and student and hopefully help lead the team to another championship.
Is there anything else you are looking forward to this summer outside of this experience?
- I recently went to Paris and it was a great experience. It was fun seeing all of the sights they have to offer. I also enjoyed learning about their culture and experiencing it first hand. The best part for me though was going to Roland Garros. This is one of the four grand slams in tennis and it was an unreal experience. Seeing all of the best players in the world and people I look up to was so fun watching them all play. It was also a good learning experience and it showed me things that I need to work on for this upcoming year that can help take my game to the next level.
- I look forward to seeing my sister and her husband who have both graduated from Westpoint last year and have been stationed in California. I haven't seen them in a while and I'm looking forward to seeing them in South Carolina on vacation.
