Capuano & McPherson Selected to Landmark All-Conference First Team
TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College sophomore Maddie Capuano and graduate student Camille McPherson have been selected to the 2018 Landmark Conference Women’s Basketball All-Conference First Team.
TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College sophomore Maddie Capuano and graduate student Camille McPherson have been selected to the 2018 Landmark Conference Women's Basketball All-Conference First Team.
The duo helped the Greyhounds to a 17-9 mark this winter and a berth in the Landmark Conference Semifinals as the squad played in the postseason for the 17th consecutive season.
"Camille and Maddie had terrific years for us this season," stated Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk. "They are both well deserving of First Team honors."
Capuano, a guard, was honored as the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year last February. She was second to McPherson in scoring this season at 13.5 points per game, and Capuano led the Hounds with 97 assists and 47 three-pointers. She also had 37 steals and shot 81.9 percent (95-of-116) at the foul line while playing 29.8 minutes per game. Capuano has 708 points, 206 rebounds, 169 assists and 90 steals halfway through her career at Moravian.
"Maddie had another great year after garnering Rookie of the Year last season," Spirk noted. "She is as talented a player that I have ever coached and we look forward to having two more years with her."
McPherson, a forward, was named to the Landmark All-Conference Team for a third straight winter after being on the First Team a year ago and the Second Team in 2016. McPherson led the Blue and Grey in scoring at 16.6 points per game, finishing her career eighth in school history with 1,427 points and first all-time with an 18.1-point per game scoring average. McPherson also had a team-high 7.2 rebounds per game, and she is 16th all-time with 559 career rebounds in just 79 games with the program. McPherson added 53 assists, 39 three-pointers, 14 steals and seven blocked shots this winter while shooting 83.9 percent at the foul line (94-of-112), 43.6 percent from the floor (133-of-305) and 35.5 percent beyond the arc (39-of-110). McPherson is also a finalist for the Jostens Trophy for a second consecutive year and was named to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Team of the Year again this season.
"For Camille to be a three-time All-Landmark player is quite an accomplishment," Spirk said. "Her will to be the best was a true pleasure to watch over the past three seasons. Camille's work ethic and passion for the game are second to none. She will be missed next year."
