Greyhounds Fall to No. 8 TCNJ in Hard-Fought Contest After Early Lead
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women’s lacrosse team scored first and was tied after 30 minutes of action with No. 8 The College of New Jersey in non-conference action on John Makuvek Field Tuesday; however, the Lions took control in the third quarter to post an 18-7 win over the host Greyhounds.

How It Happened
- The Hounds scored that opening goal just 1:30 into the contest when senior midfielder Lindsey Strohl scored off a pass from freshman midfielder Alex Cherenson. After TCNJ knotted the contest, Strohl scored again to put the Blue and Grey back in front, 2-1. The Lions notched two markers to take a 3-2 edge before Strohl found the goal again with just 4.6 seconds left in the opening quarter when she knocked in a pass from freshman attack Jackie Salvatore as the teams were tied at 3-3 after 15 minutes of action
- Cherenson gave Moravian the lead again 1:12 into the second quarter with a goal before the Lions made it a 4-4 contest. Junior midfielder Megan Donnelly put the Hounds ahead once more at the 7:23 mark, just 25 seconds after TCNJ had tied the contest. The Lions would score with 1:42 until the intermission to make it 5-5 through 30 minutes
- TCNJ opened the second half with three straight goals before Cherenson scored the Greyhounds' only goal of the period. The Lions netted three more tallies to lead 11-6 after 45 minutes of play
- Moravian would get three goals in the fourth quarter, two from freshman attack Madi Dippel and one from Donnelly; however, the Lions scored six times in the period including the final goal with 1:44 to go
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had four different players score goals and a total of seven players earn points led by Strohl, who netted a hat trick in the first quarter to go with five draw controls, five ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. Donnelly had two goals, two assists and two draw controls while Cherenson contributed two goals and an assist
- Dippel added a pair of goals while Salvatore, junior attack Devin King, and senior defender Samantha Cherenson all had one assist
- Junior goalie Brelyn Friedman made a career-high 18 saves, tied for the sixth-most in a match in program history, while sophomore defender Keara Reilly scooped up a team-high six ground balls to go with a pair of caused turnovers. Junior midfielder Emily Hoskin had three draw controls while senior attack Eliza Fantazzi and senior defender Meghan Moore both had two ground balls
