Cherkas Selected as Moravian Student-Athlete of the Week Fueled by Honey Stinger
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Junior first baseman Cole Cherkas of the Moravian University baseball squad has been selected as this week’s Moravian Student-Athlete of the Week Fueled by Honey Stinger for his performance last week.
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Junior first baseman Cole Cherkas of the Moravian University baseball squad has been selected as this week's Moravian Student-Athlete of the Week Fueled by Honey Stinger for his performance last week.
Cherkas hit .769 in the Greyhounds' three-game Landmark Conference series with The University of Scranton. He was 10-for-13 at the plate with five RBIs and two runs to go along with a pair of walks for a .750 on-base percentage. Cherkas also had a sacrifice fly, 24 putouts and two assists during the three games. In the second contest, an 11-8, 12-inning win for Moravian over two days due to lightning, Cherkas was 6-for-6, becoming the fourth player in program history to collect six hits in a single game joining Rob Light and Steve Neikam, who both had six hits in a game in 1989 and Anthony Gaetaniello, who matched the record in 2014.
The Moravian Student-Athlete of the Week Fueled by Honey Stinger is selected on Mondays by Moravian's athletic department leadership team.
