Trio of Moravian Men’s Soccer Players Honored with College Sports Communicators Men’s Soccer Academic All-District
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian University graduate student defender Vito Leone, senior defender Kyle Weiss and sophomore defender Max Teneza have been honored with selection to the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Men’s Soccer Team for NCAA Division III schools.
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian University graduate student defender Vito Leone, senior defender Kyle Weiss and sophomore defender Max Teneza have been honored with selection to the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team for NCAA Division III schools.
To be eligible for CSC Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.50 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve that has played in 90 percent of the team's games or started 66 percent of the team's contests in 2024. Moravian has had 56 Greyhounds named CSC Academic All-Americans®.
Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. The CSC Academic All-America® teams will be announced Tuesday, December 10.
The group helped the Greyhounds to a 9-5-5 overall record this year, and the squad was 5-1-3 in Landmark Conference action to earn a berth in the 2024 Landmark Conference Tournament and host the program's first home conference playoff match since 1983. The trio helped the Blue and Grey record six shutouts in 2024.
Leone, a computer science and economics dual major with a 3.82 grade-point average, started 16 of 19 matches and scored his first career goal this fall. Leone appeared in 59 career matches with 39 starts with one goal, and he is a three-time member of the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll.
Weiss, an education major and sociology minor with a 3.66 GPA, started 17 of 19 matches this year and finished with one goal in 2023. Weiss, who made the 2022 Landmark All-Conference Second Team as a defender, played in 68 career contests with 53 starts, and he had four goals and three assists in his career. Weiss, who also plays men's lacrosse and runs on the men's indoor track & field team at Moravian, was on the 2022 & 2023 Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll for soccer, the 2024 Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll for indoor track and the 2023 and 2024 Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll for lacrosse.
Teneza, a finance major with an economics minor and a 3.66 grade-point average, played in 18 contests this fall with eight starts, and he also contributed two assists. In his two seasons, Teneza has played in 33 matches with nine starts to go along with three assists.
