Greyhounds Capture 15th Landmark Conference Outdoor Title
SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The Moravian University women’s outdoor track & field squad captured the 2025 Landmark Conference Outdoor Championship by 33 points as the program won its 15th Landmark outdoor title and 28th overall outdoor crown Sunday at Susquehanna University after the second day of competition.

Landmark Conference Championships
- The Greyhounds captured their 15th Landmark Conference Outdoor Championship and first since 2022
- The title was Moravian's 28th outdoor title in program history. The Hounds also have 27 indoor conference championships including 13 since the Landmark Conference began competition in 2007-08
How It Happened
- Moravian recorded 172.5 points while The Catholic University of America was second with 139.5 points
- The Blue & Grey won four individual titles of the 20 events
- The Greyhounds also recorded 14 All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference qualifying marks including eight on Sunday
- Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann and his assistant coaches - Jonathan D'Ottavio (throws), Molly Sear (jumps), Beth Ann Davies (pole vault), Ryan Harper (throws), Sean McFarland (sprints), David Scheck (hurdles) - were named the 2025 Landmark Conference Women's Outdoor Coaching Staff of the Year
Moravian Event Winners
- Junior Margie Rayne won her third title of the weekend, capturing the discus in an AARTFC qualifying, school and Landmark Conference record and PR toss of 44.06 meters (144-6) on her first attempt of the event. Rayne's record toss breaks the school record of 43.57 meters (142-11.25) set by Christina Scherwin '05 at the 2003 Middle Atlantic Conference Championship. Rayne was also selected as the Female Field Performer of the Year after scoring 30 points in the meet
Moravian Scoring Finishers
- Junior Tara Smurla was the runner-up in the 5,000-meter run with an AARTFC qualifying time of 17:58.43
- Freshman Emma Shafnisky took third in the 110-meter hurdles in an AARTFC qualifying and PR time of 15.26 seconds
- Senior Amber Poniktera placed third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with an AARTFC qualifying time of 11:37.94 while senior Rachael Goodman was fourth in 11:56.50, sophomore Alyssa Hockenberry took fifth in a PR time of 11:58.12 and sophomore Alexis Hockenberry finished sixth in 12:06.76
- Freshman Becca Caird took third in the javelin with an AARTFC qualifying and PR distance of 35.36 meters (116-0) while senior Abby McClaskey took fourth at 34.02 meters (111-7)
- Senior Abby Giamoni finished third in the 400-meter dash in an AARTFC qualifying time of 57.24 seconds while junior Shai Knight was sixth in a time of 59.75 seconds
- Giamoni took fourth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 25.80 seconds
- Junior Ali Haefele tied for fourth in the high jump at 1.48 meters (4-10.25)
- Junior Heather Adams placed fourth in the discus with a PR toss of 37.35 meters (122-6) while senior Caillie Fish was fifth at 37.19 meters (122-0)
- Freshmen Kennedy Simons finished eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 10.37 meters (34-0.25)
- The Hounds' 4x100-meter relay squad of Shafnisky, Giamoni, Knight and freshman Katelyn Davis placed third in an AARTFC qualifying time of 49.45 seconds
- Moravian's 4x400-meter relay team of Giamoni, Knight, senior Rylie Murphy and freshman Emerson Beamer took sixth in an AARTFC qualifying time of 4:03.62
