Zolotareva Honored As Landmark Conference Women’s Tennis Athlete Of The Week
TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University sophomore Leah Zolotareva has been honored as the Landmark Conference Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week for her performance last week.
TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University sophomore Leah Zolotareva has been honored as the Landmark Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for her performance last week.
Zolotareva, who earned her second Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week accolade of the season and first of the spring season, earned wins at first singles and first doubles to help the Greyhounds post a 7-0 win over rival Muhlenberg College in non-conference action. Zolotareva teamed with junior Izzy Szmodis for a 6-2 victory at first doubles before posting a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at first singles to clinch the win.
"Being named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week is a reflection of the relentless effort and determination Leah puts into every practice and match," noted Director of Tennis Mariana Freitas. "She's constantly challenging herself to get better, eager to experiment with different aspects of her game, and always looking for new ways to evolve as a player."
The Greyhounds are slated to return to the courts on Sunday, March 3 when the team faces Wartburg (Iowa) College at the Racquet Club of Cocoa Beach at 1:00 p.m. to start the squad's spring break trip to Florida.
