#11 Moravian Falls 3-2 in Extra Innings to John Carroll
The 11th-ranked Moravian College softball team dropped its first game of the season, falling to John Carroll University, 3-2, in eight innings in the team's second contest on opening day action at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida.

John Carroll took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning when outfielder Michelle Murphy singled with two outs and scored on a passed ball.
The Blue Streaks would extend their lead to 2-0 in the top of the fifth inning when second baseman Samantha Becker led off with a triple and scored on an RBI infield single from catcher Mackenzie Griffin.
The Greyhounds answered in the bottom half of the fifth with a pair of runs to tie the game at 2-2. Freshman pinch hitter Taylor Mihalik drew a walk and moved to third on a single by senior shortstop Stephanie Falzarano. After a sacrifice bunt, junior pitcher Jenna Carmon, pictured at right, hit a two-RBI double to score Mihalik and Falzarano.
With the score still tied after seven innings, the teams went to the international tiebreaker. John Carroll started the eighth inning with Murphy on second base, and she scored the winning run on an RBI single from outfielder Angela Vistocco.
The Greyhounds had sophomore first baseman Amanda Dizinno on second to begin the bottom of the eighth, but Moravian was unable to score.
John Carroll had a 7-6 edge in hits in the contest with Becker going two-for-three and Griffin going two-for-four. Falzarano led Moravian at the plate with a two-for-four performance.
Carmon took the loss for the Greyhounds, allowing three runs, just one earned, on seven hits and two walks while striking out six batters. Brittany Danilov earned the win for the Blue Streaks after giving up two runs on six hits and two walks to go with 12 strikeouts.
