Greyhounds Set to Begin 2025 Season at Kean on February 10
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University baseball squad is set to start the 2025 season with a non-conference game at Kean (N.J.) University on Monday, February 10 with first pitch set for 3:30 p.m. with the contest moved a day earlier due to the weather forecast.

Third-year Head Coach Douglas Coe has 29 student-athletes returning from last year's squad.
Coach Coe returns five starters in the field led by graduate student designated hitter/first baseman Cole Cherkas, who made the Landmark All-Conference First Team as a DH last spring after hitting .333 with 40 hits, 20 runs, nine doubles, a triple, five homers and 31 RBIs. Also returning in the field senior outfielder Nick Henry, who had 31 hits, 12 runs, five doubles, two homers, 17 RBIs and 15 stolen bases last season, graduate student outfielder David Olsakowski, who collected 27 hits, 26 runs, 25 stolen bases, five doubles and eight RBIs a year ago, graduate student/catcher Connor Wengryn, who was selected to the Landmark All-Conference Second Team in 2022 and posted 20 hits, eight runs, two doubles and eight RBIs in 2024, and sophomore catcher Wyatt Harrar, who added 16 hits, 11 runs, four doubles, two home runs and 11 RBIs in his debut season.
Bringing playing experience to the field are graduate student infielder Jack Tone, who had eight hits, ten runs, a double, a triple and five RBIs, graduate student infielder Justin Otero, who contributed five hits, four runs, a homer and five RBIs, junior first baseman Sean Superka, who recorded two runs, two hits, a homer and two RBIs and sophomore first baseman/pitcher Ryan Hoffman, who had one hit. Sophomore outfielder Domenic Venini scored a pair of runs last spring while sophomore infielder Johnovan Rodriguez crossed the plate once and junior infielder James Ruban III had six plate appearances.
The Greyhounds return 16 pitchers with collegiate experience. Graduate student Aaron Flyte tossed 49.2 innings with 28 strikeouts, two complete games, a shutout and a 3-4 record while junior Ross Huffman was 3-3 last spring with 27 strikeouts in 41 innings of action. Sophomore Nick Leonard pitched 16.1 innings last season with a 1-2 mark, two saves and nine strikeouts while sophomore Andrew Benvenuto had seven strikeouts in 15.2 innings of work. Sophomore Nate McBride saw 11 innings of action with a pair of strikeouts and a 1-1 mark while sophomore Aidan Lane pitched 7.2 innings with eight strikeouts. Junior Stefano Garofalo also tossed 7.2 innings with three strikeouts. while sophomore Caden Ward posted four strikeouts and a save in 3.2 innings of work.
Junior Max Sponheimer had two strikeouts in 3.1 innings while sophomore Ryan Grill recorded a pair of strikeouts in three innings. Senior Chris Medei saw an inning of action while sophomore Ben Cogar tossed 1.2 innings with a strikeout. Sophomores Matt Westcott and Wes Griffith each had appearances last season while senior Matt Snyder returns after missing the 2024 campaign with an injury. In 2023, Snyder was 2-1 with one save, a 4.85 ERA.
