Greyhounds Aim For 3rd Straight Track & Field Conference Title
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Moravian College men's track & field team heads to Susquehanna University this weekend for the Landmark Conference Championships. The Greyhounds look to capture their seventh indoor conference championship, including their third straight. Moravian has won three of the last four Landmark titles.

The Greyhounds are led by returning Landmark Conference champion and current record holder in the pole vault, senior Timothy Layng. Layng holds the conference record with a height of 4.95 meters (16 feet, 3 inches). He also competes in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.01. Sophomore Kristopher Joint returns as a defending champion and current conference record holder in the triple jump with a distance of 13.99 meters (43 feet, 11 ¼ inches). Joint is also third in the conference in the long jump with a distance of 6.59 meters (21 feet, 7 ½ inches) to go with his 1.68 meters (5 feet, 6 inches) in the high jump. He also competes in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.58.
Junior Donald Noble is another returning conference champion in the mile run and the 5,000 meter run. He currently holds the fastest time in the mile (4:20.70) and the 5,000 meter run (14:41.50). He also has a time of 2:04.70 in the 800 meter run. Senior Steve Ambrosi is the final returning champ from last year's squad. He won the 800 meter run and currently holds the top time in the conference at 1:53.34, seven seconds faster than the next runner (Ryan Trexler, Juniata). He will also run in the 400 meter dash (53.37).
Senior Nicco Dalpiaz will likely compete in five different events, first of which is the 60 meter dash as he ran a 7.26 earlier this year (2nd best time in Landmark). He will also compete in the 200 meter dash (23.55) where he holds the fourth best mark in the conference. He also owns the best time in the 60 meter hurdles at 8.58. In the pole vault, his best height this winter is 4.60 meters (15 feet, 1 inch), and he'll compete in the triple jump with a distance of 12.74 meters (41 feet, 9 ¾ inches).
Sophomore Timothy Lorah has the tenth best shot put in the conference at 12.60 meters (41 feet, 4 ¼ inches) and the 12th best weight throw with a distance of 13.17 meters (43 feet, 2 ½ inches). Freshman Jeffrey Gallagher has thrown an 11.62 meters (38 feet, 1 ½ inch) in the shot put and 11.24 meters (36 feet, 10 ½ inches) in the weight throw.
Senior Kyle D'Angelo holds the top Landmark time this season in the 200 meter dash at 23.13. He will also compete in the 60 meter dash (7.49) and the 400 meter dash (54.32). Freshman Joe Wirfel is second on the Greyhounds in the 60 meter dash at 7.44 seconds, and he's third in the 200 meter dash at 23.72 meters. He will also compete in the long jump. Junior Travis King holds the third fastest time in the 60 meter dash at 7.45. King will also compete in the long jump, with his best distance of 6.30 meters (20 feet, 8 inches). He also owns the second best conference mark in the triple jump at 13.92 meters (45 feet, 8 inches).
Junior Jonathan Heberling leads Moravian into the high jump at 1.88 meters (6 feet, 2 inches), and that is tied for the top mark in the Landmark. He also competes in the long jump with a distance of 6.56 meters (21 feet, 6 ¼ inches), which ranks him sixth in the conference. In the triple jump, he has a distance of 12.23 meters (40 feet, 1 ½ inch). Freshman Chris Ossont and senior Jordan Barton will compete alongside Heberling in the long jump and triple jump.
Senior Matthew Lutcza will run the distance events at conference meet. He runs the 800 meter run in 2:02.49, the 5,000 meter run in 14:45.88 and the mile run in 4:21.74. Also joining him on the distance events will be freshmen Alex Duncan, Dillion Farrell and Corey Schauerman along with senior Daniel Selmasska.
Freshman Travis Dorsa will add depth to the 200 and 400 meter dashes with times of 24.38 and 54.45, respectively. Ossont and junior Vincent McDowell will help in the 60 meter dash with times of 7.79 and 7.89, respectively. Also joining them in those events will be senior Christopher Gallogly, sophomores Craig Arner and Samuel Ansman, and freshman Mike Hofmann.
Ansman also competes in the long jump with a distance of 4.97 meters (16 feet, 3 ½ inches) while McDowell competes in the triple jump at 12.22 meters (40 feet, 1 ¼ inch). McDowell also adds depth to the 60 meter hurdles along with Arner and Hofmann.
Junior Tyler Potterton will be a competitor in the weight throw with the 15th best distance in the conference at 12.91 meters (42 feet, 4 ¾ inches). Senior Michael Facchiano will add depth to the event with a throwing distance of 11.18 meters (36 feet, 8 ¼ inches) while also competing in the shot put with a distance of 11.26 meters (36 feet, 11 ½ inches). Freshman Andrew Loehwing will go in the shot put as well with a distance of 11.40 meters (37 feet, 5 inches). Also competing in those events will be junior Phillip Torres and sophomore Kyle Kersting.
The meet is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 25th at Susquehanna University.
