Farrell Wins 10K to Lead Moravian at 1st Day of ECAC Championships
TROY, N.Y. --- Freshman Dillon Farrell won the 10,000-meter run in the last event of the day to lead the Moravian College men’s track & field team on the first day of the 2012 ECAC Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Thursday.

Moravian is tied for second place with Rowan University of 37 teams scoring points on the first day of the meet through eight events. Massachusetts Institute of Technology is in first place with 24 points, just a point ahead of the Greyhounds and the Profs. Bates College is in fourth place with 19 points.
Farrell captured the 10,000-meter run in a school record time of 31:07.52 to earn ten points towards Moravian's team score.
In the pole vault, senior Timothy Layng cleared 4.91 meters (16 feet, 1 ¼ inches), the same height as the runner-up but in more attempts, to finish third and earn six points for the Greyhounds. Senior Nicco Dalpiaz tied for tenth in the pole vault at 4.46 meters (14 feet, 7 ½ inches).
Moravian scored seven points in the triple jump with sophomore Kristopher Joint taking fourth place to earn five points in a career best distance of 14.47 meters (47 feet, 5 ¾ inches). However, Joint was unable to move up from 22nd on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list in the event. Those men ranked in the top 20 for individuals and top 16 for relays at the end of the season will compete at the national meet next week in Claremont, California. Junior Travis King was seventh in the triple jump to pick up two team points with a mark of 13.94 meters (45 feet, nine inches).
