TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University senior Bryan Kerchner has been honored as the 2025 Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete for Men's Cross Country.
The Landmark Conference selects 23 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators and sports information directors. Chosen at the conclusion of each sport season, the ten spring honorees are being announced this week.
"Bryan is an extremely self-driven, responsible, motivated individual who you never have to think twice about doing what he needs to prepare himself to excel," stated Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann. "As a student, even in some challenging PT courses, he was always one leading study groups with fellow teammates or being proactive to go above and beyond with the observation hours he needed for the program and ultimately to move on to PT school. As an athlete, he's meticulous with his training and never misses a day in the offseason, even when on vacations. It's a reason he's been so successful as an athlete for this program, and will be moving on after Moravian to pursue a DPT. He's been a great leader for our program on how to balance being a successful student-athlete."
This fall, Kerchner helped the Greyhounds to a their fifth straight Landmark Conference Men's Cross Country Championship this fall as he earned Landmark All-Conference First Team honors with a third place finish with a personal best time of 24:46.28 on the 8,000-meter course at Oak Ridge Park in New Jersey. Kerchner also garnered United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Metro All-Region with a tenth place finish.
Kerchner earned All-Conference First Team honors in 2024 with a fourth place finish at the conference meet, and he was on the All-Conference Second Team in 2023 as well after placing eighth. Kerchner received USTFCCCA Metro All-Region accolades in 2024 with a sixth place finish and in 2023 when he took 15th. Last fall, Kerchner ran at the 2024 NCAA Division III National Championships as the Greyhounds qualified as a team for the first time in program history, and he took 99th out of the 294 runners to lead the Moravian squad.
Off the course, Kerchner has made Moravian's Dean's Honors List twice during his career, and he has twice been named to the USTFCCCA Cross Country All-Academic Team. Kerchner will be a three-time member of the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll, and he is a four-time honoree on the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll. Kerchner is majoring in Health Sciences/Pre-Physical Therapy with a 3.45 grade-point average at Moravian.
Kerchner is Moravian's 46th Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete since the conference began in 2007-08, and he is the fourth men's cross country student-athlete to be honored and second straight after Josh Mangini received the honor last fall. The Greyhounds have had a total of 14 student-athletes from the men's cross country and track & field programs honored as Landmark Conference Senior Scholar Athletes.
