Greyhounds Defeat Catholic in Weather-Shortened Match to Finish Regular Season
WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The Moravian University women’s tennis squad defeated host The Catholic University of America, 4-1, in a Landmark Conference match shortened by rain and lightning Friday to close out the regular season.

How It Happened
- The Greyhounds received the doubles point and a 1-0 lead by winning two of the three doubles matches. The Cardinals the contest with a win at third doubles before the tandem of senior Izzy Szmodis and junior Leah Zolotareva posted a 6-4 victory at first doubles. The duo of junior Sydney Shifman and freshman Natalia Smith registered a 7-5 triumph at second doubles to put the Hounds ahead
- Moravian would win three of the four singles contests completed before the weather began to clinch the victory. The Cardinals opened singles with a victory at second singles to make it 1-1 in the match before freshman Kaelyn Balko put the Blue & Grey back in the lead with a 6-3, 6-2 win at fourth singles. Szmodis earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory at first singles while Shifman clinched the win with a 7-5, 6-1 triumph at third singles
- The Hounds will need to wait until after Landmark Conference action is completed on Saturday, April 25 to find out their seeding for the 2026 Landmark Conference Tournament. Moravian has clinched a home match but is unsure if it will be in the First Round as the three seed or in the Semifinals as one of the top two seeds
