Eleven Greyhounds Named 2025 ITA Scholar-Athletes & Both Tennis Squads Selected as All-Academic Teams
TEMPE, Ariz. --- Eleven student-athletes from the Moravian University men’s and women’s tennis teams have been selected as 2025 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athletes and both the men’s and women’s squads also received the ITA All-Academic Team award.

Seniors Zachary Lebby and Wyatt Marshall, juniors Shayaan Farhad and Matthew Labosky and freshman Roman Fardad from the men's team and junior Izzy Szmodis, sophomores Ali Bender, Sydney Shifman and Leah Zolotareva and freshmen Nicole Kalorin and Ali Willis from the women's squad were named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
"We always strive to earn team ITA-Academic honors as well as individual recognition for outstanding achievements in the classroom. I'm incredibly proud of both teams for accomplishing this goal," stated Director of Tennis Mariana Freitas.
For a student-athlete to ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, they must maintain at least a 3.50 GPA, earn a varsity letter and be enrolled for at least two semesters. Thousands of student-athletes across all divisions were honored with ITA Scholar-Athlete status and hundreds of teams earned the ITA All-Academic Team award for maintaining at least a 3.20 GPA. All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2024 and spring 2025).
Lebby was 1-1 in doubles this season while Marshall had a 5-9 first singles mark and a 6-8 first doubles record. Labosky posted marks of 4-2 in singles and 2-3 in doubles while Roman Farhad was 13-4 in singles and 12-6 in doubles action in his debut campaign. Shayaan Farhad missed the season with an injury.
Szmodis was named to the 2025 Landmark All-Conference First Team in singles and doubles in doubles after recording records of 15-6 in singles action and 17-3 in doubles play with Zolotareva, who was the Landmark Conference Player of the Year and on the Landmark All-Conference First Team in singles and doubles with a 16-5 singles slate. Bender missed a portion of the year with an injury before finishing with an 8-0 singles mark and a 6-2 doubles record while Shifman made the Landmark All-Conference Second Team in singles with a 16-4 slate, and she was 13-5 in doubles play. Kalorin and Willis combined for a 12-9 doubles record to earn spots on the Landmark All-Conference Honorable Mention team, and Willis also made Honorable Mention in singles with a 15-6 mark while Kalorin had a 12-7 singles slate.
