Moravian Tennis Teams Open Fall 2025 Campaign at DeSales on September 20
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men’s and women’s tennis teams will begin the fall portions of their 2025-26 seasons as each team plays DeSales University in a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday, September 20 beginning at 12:00 p.m.
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's and women's tennis teams will begin the fall portions of their 2025-26 seasons as each team plays DeSales University in a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday, September 20 beginning at 12:00 p.m.
Director Mariana Freitas enters her fifth season guiding the Greyhounds after being named the 2025 Landmark Conference Coach of the Year. She returns seven players on the men's team including Landmark All-Conference Honorable mention singles selection sophomore Joey Kelly. The squad also welcomes back senior Shayaan Farhad, who missed last year due to injury but was the 2023 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year to go with Landmark All-Conference Second Team selections in both singles and doubles in 2024 and spots on the All-Conference First Team in singles and Second Team in doubles in 2023.
The women have seven student-athletes back including Landmark All-Conference Player of the Year, First Team singles and First Team doubles selection junior Leah Zolotareva. The squad also returns Senior Izzy Szmodis, who was on the Landmark All-Conference First Teams in singles and doubles as well as junior Sydney Shifman, who made the All-Conference Second Team in singles. Sophomores Nicole Kalorin and Ali Willis were selected to the Landmark All-Conference Honorable Mention list in doubles with Willis also honored on the Honorable Mention squad in doubles.
