Hounds Drops 2025 Home Opener to Ursinus
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University football squad dropped a 35-7 decision to visiting Ursinus College in non-conference action Saturday afternoon as the Greyhounds played their 2025 home opener at Rocco Calvo Field.

How It Happened
- The Bears received opening kickoff and punted after three plays while Moravian's opening possession also went three plays and punt
- Ursinus put together an eight-play, 70-yard drive to take a 7-0 lead on a five-yard touchdown pass with 6:57 to go in the opening quarter
- The Hounds punted again after three plays but a muff on the return put the Blue & Grey into Ursinus territory. However, Moravian turned the ball over on downs
- The Greyhounds got the ball right back after junior defensive back Antonio Bowen forced a fumble on the first play that sophomore defensive lineman Kaelyb Barahona covered at the Ursinus 45-yard line. Moravian picked up a first down before sophomore quarterback Declan McCarthy was intercepted in the red zone
- The Bears turned the miscue into points with a nine-play, 64-yard drive capped off with a 14-yard touchdown run to make it 14-0 at the 12:16 mark of the second quarter
- The Hounds were unable to move the ball with sophomore punter Jack Corrigan coming on to punt for the third time, and he connected on a 71-yard punt to pin the Bears at their own one-yard line
- Ursinus countered with an 11-play, 99-yard drive to stretch the advantage to 21-0 with 4:25 until the intermission
- On Moravian's third play of the next possession, sophomore quarterback RJ Hart was intercepted to set the Bears up at midfield
- Two plays later, Ursinus scored on a 44-yard touchdown run with 2:09 on the clock to take a 28-0 lead into the locker room
- The Greyhounds started the second half with the ball and put together an 18-play drive that took nearly 12 minutes off the clock. Corrigan kept the drive alive early with his second fake punt pass completion of the season as he found senior running back Camron Tinajero. Hart also completed a fourth down pass to graduate student tight end Jalen Jones for another first down. The Blue & Grey moved inside the ten-yard line before a penalty pushed them back and force the squad to turn the ball over on downs
- The Bears ran seven plays before punting early in the fourth quarter on their first possession of the second half while the Greyhounds had a three-and-out on their next drive
- Ursinus eventually made the score 35-0 with 10:30 remaining on a 47-yard touchdown pass
- After each squad punted, Moravian put together an eight-play, 70-yard touchdown drive with freshman running back Dorian Thomas getting into the end zone with a one-yard touchdown run. Corrigan made the extra-point to set the final score at 35-7 with 2:53 to play
- The Bears ran out the clock to end the game
Inside the Numbers
- The Greyhounds' offense gained 200 yards on 59 plays while controlling the clock for 34:27 of the contest. The Blue & Grey had 120 yards passing and 80 yards rushing in the contest
- Hart completed 8-of-14 passes for 66 yards with one interception while McCarthy was 6-for-12 for 45 yards with one interception, and he added a yard on 11 carries
- Junior wide receiver Avery Koser caught five passes for 36 yards while sophomore wide receiver Chris Brown had three receptions for 24 yards. Senior wide receiver Knaheim Bragg pulled in two catches for 17 yards while Tinajero added two receptions for 13 yards and one yard on three carries
- Sophomore wide receiver Gayvn Gennarelli pulled in one pass for 11 yards while Jones had one catch for seven yards and freshman wide receiver Andrei Matthews caught one pass for four yards
- Graduate student running back Joey Richmond led the rushing attack with 54 yards on nine carries while sophomore Jed Bendekovits had 16 yards on five carries. Thomas added 12 yards and the touchdown on three attempts, and he also had three kickoff returns for 50 yards
- Sophomore wide receiver Josh Ludlow had one punt return for 15 yards, and he returned one kickoff for 19 yards
- Corrigan punted six times for an average of 47.3 yards and two punts inside the 20-yard line including his 71 yarder, and he also kicked off twice for an average of 64.0 yards
- Junior safety Aidan Lane led the Moravian defense with ten tackles while senior linebacker Clay Basile and senior defensive lineman Nathan Carr each had six stops with Carr adding one tackle for loss
- Bowen made three stops to go with his forced fumble while sophomore defensive back Antonio Rivera had three tackles and a pass break-up
- Barahona, sophomore linebacker Malachi McNeil-Harrison, senior defensive back Shea Endean, graduate student linebacker Declan Coors and sophomore linebacker Jack Tosh all made three stops with Barahona adding a fumble recovery
