Greyhounds Head to Catholic for Landmark Conference Contest on October 18

THE COACHES: Jeff Long (Muhlenberg '14) is in his third season as Moravian's head coach with an overall record of 11-16. In his debut campaign, Long led the Greyhounds to a 4-6 overall record and a 3-3 slate in the inaugural Landmark Conference season. Last fall, Long guided the Hounds to a 7-4 mark, a 4-2 Landmark Conference record and the 2024 Cape Charles Bowl Championship with a win over Shenandoah (Va.) University. He has coached 21 Landmark All-Conference selections including seven First Team honorees. Long spent the previous six seasons with the Blue Streaks including the last three years as defensive coordinator. He began his time at John Carroll as the defensive line coach and has also been a secondary coach and linebackers coach. Prior to coaching at John Carroll, Long spent two seasons as a defensive line coach at Wilkes University, and he also worked as a scouting intern for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015.
Catholic coach Mike Gutelius (Catholic '92) is in his ninth year as head coach with a record of 32-45.
THE SERIES: Saturday's meeting is the third contest between the schools with Moravian leading the series, 2-0, after a 34-14 win in Bethlehem last fall and a 36-28 victory in Washington, D.C. in 2023.

THE QUARTERBACKS: Sophomore RJ Hart is 30-for-61 for 224 yards with two touchdowns and four interceptions while graduate student Jared Jenkins has completed 23-of-34 passes for 238 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions, and Jenkins has run the ball four times for three yards. Sophomore Declan McCarthy is 10-for-30 passing for 84 yards with one interception, and he has five yards on 21 rushing attempts while freshman Tommy Gontz has completed 8-of-20 passes for 98 yards, one touchdown and one interception to go with 21 yards on nine rushes. Sophomore wide receiver Ryan Bender is 3-for-5 for 13 yards while sophomore punter/kicker Jack Corrigan is 2-for-2 for 38 yards and two first downs on fake punt plays at Muhlenberg College and versus Ursinus College.
IN THE BACKFIELD: Graduate student Joey Richmond leads the Moravian rushing attack with 111 yards on 35 attempts while sophomore Jed Bendekovits has 110 yards on 38 carries. Freshman Dorian Thomas has gained 104 yards on 36 carries while senior Camron Tinajero has 22 yards on 15 attempts and senior Isiah Rico has added five yards on three carries.
THE OFFENSIVE LINE: Moravian has one returning starter on the offensive line in junior Mason Ludlow. Senior Drew Brizan has seen action and moved into the starting lineup while sophomores Dylan Nolter and Ali Wezza and freshman Marquis Labossiere round out the starting lineup. Juniors Aris Daley and Hezakyah Hynson and freshmen Dante Downey, Kyle Borgh and Michael Longo have seen action this fall.
THE WIDE RECEIVERS: The Greyhounds have had 15 different players catch a pass in 2025 led by junior Avery Koser, who was named the Sean Keville '94 MVP at Muhlenberg in the season opener. Koser has 17 receptions for 232 yards and four touchdowns while sophomore Josh Ludlow has 15 catches for 148 yards. Sophomore Chris Brown has ten catches for 86 yards and a touchdown while sophomore Gavyn Gennarelli has nine catches for 45 yards. Senior Knaheim Bragg has six receptions for 45 yards while senior running back Isiah Rico has five catches for 51 yards. Senior running back Camron Tinajero has caught five passes for 23 yards while graduate student tight end Jalen Jones has caught two passes for eight yards. Sophomore wide receiver Tanner Clancy has one reception for five yards while freshman wide receiver Andrei Matthews has one catch for four yards and sophomore linebacker Malachi McNeil-Harrison has added one reception for 29 yards on a fake punt at Muhlenberg and freshman running back Dorian Thomas has one catch for 15 yards. Graduate student running back Joey Richmond has one reception for four yards while freshman running back Derek Trinidad has added one catch for one yard and sophomore running back Jed Bendekovits has one reception.
THE DEFENSIVE FRONT: Senior Nathan Carr leads the defensive lineman with 28 tackles with four and a half stops for loss and a fumble recovery while sophomore Kaelyb Barahona has added 26 tackles including a half a tackle for loss and a fumble recovery. Senior Jashon Teller has made 13 tackles while sophomore Hunter Johnson has ten tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, one pass break-up, two quarterback hurries and a blocked field goal at Lycoming College. Senior EJ Harvey has five tackles with one and a half for loss while sophomore Josh Doane has five stops. Freshman Brayden Lauta has posted four tackles while junior Logan Arteaga has five tackles with one for loss. Freshman Kenny Dim has made two tackles while junior EJ Boney has one stop.
THE LINEBACKER CORPS: Senior Ethan O'Neill leads the linebackers with 26 stops while senior Chris Cacace has made 22 tackles with one for loss to go with a blocked punt versus Wilkes University. Sophomore Malachi McNeil-Harrison has added 22 tackles including two and a half for loss, a sack, a pass break-up and two quarterback hurries while senior Clay Basile has 20 tackles. Freshman Jamie Gutridge has registered 17 stops with three tackles for loss and a sack while sophomore linebacker Jack Tosh has made 16 tackles with three tackles for loss and a sack. Graduate student Declan Coors has ten tackles with one for loss and a pass break-up while freshman Dante Harrison has made five tackles. Sophomore Connor Pennington has contributed three tackles with a half a tackle for loss and a fumble recovery while senior Vincent Hoffman has three tackles.
THE DEFENSIVE BACKFIELD: Junior Aidan Lane leads the defensive backs and the Greyhounds' defense with 44 tackles including two and a half tackles for loss and a fumble recovery. Senior Shea Endean has 21 tackles to go with five pass break-ups while sophomore Antonio Rivera has made 19 tackles with three pass break-ups and a forced fumble. Senior Isaiah Johnson has contributed 13 stops with a half a tackle for loss while junior Antonio Bowen has also registered 13 tackles to go with a forced fumble. Freshman Kam White has added nine tackles and an interception while senior Dorian Gray has made seven tackles and senior defensive back Lorenzo Feliciano has contributed seven stops with a half a tackle for loss and two pass break-ups. Freshman Keller Rupp has five stops with a tackle for loss while freshman Knowledge Young has also contributed five tackles. Senior Julius Walborn has made four tackles to go with an interception while junior Anderson Louis Jeune and sophomore Sahmad Bailey both have all recorded two stops.
KICKING GAME: Sophomore Jack Corrigan has punted 35 times this fall for an average of 44.0 yards with a long of 75 yards to tie the school record. Corrigan has four touchbacks, eight fair caught and seven inside the 20-yard line, and he has kicked off 12 times for an average of 59.3 yards and one touchback. Corrigan is 5-for-6 on extra points. Graduate student Kyle Weiss has kicked off once for 49 yards as he saw action for his fourth Moravian team in his career having competed for the men's soccer, men's lacrosse and men's indoor track & field teams as an undergraduate.
SPECIAL TEAMS: Freshman running back Dorian Thomas has 18 kickoff returns for 383 yards while sophomore wide receiver Josh Ludlow has six kickoff returns for 164 yards to go with four punt returns for 32 yards. Sophomore defensive back Antonio Bowen has one kickoff return for 16 yards while sophomore wide receiver Ryan Bender has one kickoff return for 11 yards. Graduate student running back Joey Richmond has returned one kickoff for 14 yards while graduate student linebacker Declan Coors has one return for nine yards. Senior running back Camron Tinajero has recorded three special teams tackles while junior wide receiver Avery Koser and graduate student tight end Jalen Jones both have two tackles on special teams.
MILESTONE WATCH: The Greyhounds has two student-athlete closing in on milestones for his careers. Graduate student quarterback Jared Jenkins is ranked second in program history with 6,459 passing yards, and he needs 186 yards passing to become the school record holder. Jenkins is first all-time in completions with 573, fourth in program history with 875 pass attempts and first in school history with 67 touchdown passes. Sophomore punter Jack Corrigan has tied the school record with a 75-yard punt in the 2025 season opener, and he has four career punts of more than 71 yards. Corrigan has moved into 12th in program history with 86 career punts, and he is 11th all-time with 3,707 yards.
BALANCED & EXPERIENCED 'HOUNDS: Of the 99 players on the Moravian roster, 31 are freshmen, 30 are sophomores and 13 are juniors. There are 20 seniors and five graduate students on this season's squad, and the Greyhounds return 55 letterwinners and 13 starters from 2025.
SCOUTING THE CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF AMERICA: The Cardinals enter the game at 2-4 overall and 1-1 in Landmark Conference action after a 20-17 win versus Juniata College last Saturday. Freshman quarterback Charles Gulbin leads the Catholic offense having completed 47-of-69 passes for 505 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions to go with 23 yards on 20 rushing attempts. Freshman quarterback Brady McBride is 33-for-54 for 372 yards with a pair of touchdowns and five interceptions to go along with 20 yards and two touchdowns on 54 carries. Their top targets have been junior wide receiver Henry Nole, who has 18 receptions for 236 yards and two touchdowns, senior wide receiver Cade Chrebet, who has caught 18 passes for 204 yards and a score, senior wide receiver Hayden Kennedy, who has 14 catches for 184 yards, senior wide receiver Andrew Tabor, who has 10 receptions for 115 yards and two touchdowns, and senior wide receiver John Maynes, who has caught ten passes for 99 yards and a score. Tabor also has 15 kickoff returns for 282 yards and three punt returns. Junior Kieran Brenner is 6-for-9 on extra points to go with a 41.0-yard average on 29 punts with four touchbacks, eight fair caught, four inside the 20-yard line and a long of 81 yards. Brenner has also kicked off 17 times for an average of 57.2 yards with three touchbacks. Junior linebacker Evan Chromy leads the Cardinals' defense with 47 tackles to go with six and a half tackle for loss, one and a half sacks and a forced fumble while senior linebacker Michael Hopkins has added 28 tackles with four to loss, one sack and one quarterback hurry. Senior linebacker Eric Islami has contributed 25 stops with two and a half for loss and half a sack while junior defensive back Ryan Creston has 21 tackles with a half a tackle for loss. Senior defensive back Tyler Donnelly has seven passes defended with six pass break-ups while senior defensive lineman Lawson Haylock has forced a pair of fumbles.
THE LAST TIME THEY MET: In Bethlehem last October, the Greyhounds scored four first half touchdowns on the way to a 34-14 victory over visiting The Catholic University of America in Landmark Conference action at Rocco Calvo Field. The Greyhounds took the opening kickoff and marched 75 yards on 14 plays to take an early lead. Quarterback Jared Jenkins was 6-for-6 on the drive, and he found wide receiver Diego Del Castillo for an 11-yard touchdown pass to get the Blue & Grey on the scoreboard. Ryan Child added the extra-point as Moravian led 7-0 with 6:06 left in the first quarter. The Cardinals punted on their first two possessions while the Hounds punted once. Catholic, which intercepted Jenkins on the last play of the first period, knotted the score at 7-7 on the opening play of the second quarter on a six-yard run. Moravian answered right back with a quick five-play, 68-yard drive as Jenkins found Del Castillo again, this time for a 27-yard touchdown. The Blue & Grey were unable to get the hold down on the extra-point to keep the Greyhounds edge at 13-7 with 12:19 until halftime. The Cardinals punted after three plays. The Hounds put together another quick scoring drive as they covered the 70 yards to the end zone on just seven plays. Jenkins tossed a 15-yard scoring strike to graduate student wide receiver Jordan Bingham for his third TD pass of the afternoon Child make the extra-point to push the edge to 20-7 with 7:09 until the intermission. Catholic picked up one first down before punting once again. Moravian had another long yardage drive, going 86 yards in eight plays. Jenkins and Del Castillo connected for third time in the first half, this time on a nine-yard touchdown pass. Child's extra-point extended the Greyhounds' advantage to 27-7 with 1:56 still to play in the first half. The Blue & Grey got the ball back when defensive back Aidan Lane intercepted a pass. However, Moravian would end up punting as the teams headed to the locker room with the Hounds leading 27-7. The second half began with both teams punting twice. Catholic put together a long drive into the red zone before the Greyhounds' defense made a stop at the one-yard line on fourth down to keep the Cardinals out of the end zone. The Hounds were unable to capitalize on the defensive stop and would punt out of the end zone. Catholic used the short field to get on the scoreboard on a seven-yard run to make it 27-14 with 9:46 left I the fourth quarter. Moravian answered right back with an eight-play, 75-yard drive with Jenkins tossing another touchdown pass as he found wide receiver Josh Ludlow with a 22-yard scoring strike. Child added one more extra-point to extend the lead to 34-14 with 5:08 to go. The Cardinals turned the ball over on downs before the Hounds punted on their final possession. Catholic had one more opportunity before the clock ran out. The Greyhounds racked up 401 yards of total offense on 69 plays while controlling the ball for nearly 35 minutes. Jenkins completed 24-of-29 passes for 261 yards with five touchdowns, and he ran for 14 yards on seven carries. Jenkins threw for five scores against Catholic for the second straight fall, and he is now third in program history with 45 career touchdown passes. Del Castillo caught eight passes for 91 yards and a career-high three touchdowns while Ludlow had five receptions for 69 yards and a score and one punt return for three yards. Bingham pulled in four passes for 67 yards and a touchdown while wide receiver Justin Wistuba caught a pass for 17 yards. Wide receiver Nick Coffaro had one reception for 16 yards while running back Isiah Rico added one catch for seven yards and one carries for two yards and wide receiver Nick Weston recorded one reception for five yards. Running back Joey Richmond ran for 64 yards on nine carries, and he also caught two passes for seven yards and had one kickoff return for 15 yards while running back Cole Maholtz added 22 yards on 14 carries. Running back Camron Tinajero contributed 13 yards on three carries to go with two receptions while running back Jed Bendekovits added ten yards on two carries. Quarterback Carter Hallgren was 1-for-2 for 15 yards while quarterback Declan McCarthy had one carry for a yard. Child was 4-for-4 on extra-points while punter Jack Corrigan averaged 43.7 yards on six punts with a long of 66 yards, and he kicked off six times for an average of 55.7 yards and a pair of touchbacks. Linebacker Chad Newhard led the Moravian defense with six tackles with one for loss while defensive back Cleveland Harding and linebacker Clay Basile each had five tackles with Harding breaking up a pass and Basile adding a half a tackle for loss. Defensive back Shea Endean, linebacker Malachi McNeil-Harrison, defensive lineman Jeremy McGuigan and linebacker Declan Coors all made four stops with Ending adding a pass break-up, McNeil-Harrison recording two and a half tackles for loss and a sack and McGuigan contributing one and a half tackles for loss and a sack. Defensive lineman Nathan Carr had a sack for the Hounds while defensive back Antonio Bowen added a pair of pass break-ups.
2025 CAPTAINS: The Hounds named graduate student quarterback Jared Jenkins, senior defensive lineman Nathan Carr, senior defensive back Isaiah Johnson and junior wide receiver Avery Koser as captains for the 2025 season.
OVERTIME 'HOUNDS: Moravian has played a total of 12 overtime games since the NCAA instituted the rule for the 1996 season and is 9-3 all-time in the extra-session including a pair of overtimes wins in 2021. Five of those 12 overtime games have been against Juniata College with the Greyhounds going 4-1 in those games. Moravian's contest in Huntingdon in 2008 marked the first time in the Greyhounds' have needed more than one overtime session in a game. The 2021 season marked the fourth year that Moravian has played at least two overtimes games in one season, the other years were 2008 when the Hounds played two overtime contests, 1999 when the Greyhounds played three overtime games and 1997 when Moravian played two overtime contests.
THE LANDMARK CONFERENCE STATISTICAL RANKINGS: The Greyhounds are seventh in the Landmark Conference in total offense at 172.2 yards per game, and the squad is seventh in rushing yards per game at 56.3 and seventh in passing at 115.8. Defensively, the Hounds are fifth overall at 378.8 yards allowed per game including fifth in rushing defense at 207.8 and second in passing at 170.7. The Blue & Grey lead the conference in fumble recoveries with five fumble recoveries in six games. Junior wide receiver Avery Koser is eight in receiving yards per contest at 38.7, and Koser is also tied for eighth in touchdown scoring at 4.0 points per game. Sophomore wide receiver Josh Ludlow is first in the conference in kickoff returns with an average of 27.3 yards per return while freshman running back Dorian Thomas is fifth at 21.3 yards per return. Sophomore Jack Corrigan ranks first in the Landmark Conference in punting average at 42.9 yards while junior defensive back Aidan Lane is eighth at 7.5 tackles per game and senior defensive back Shea Endean is sixth in pass break-ups at 0.83 per game.
