TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University freshman attack Jack Minetti and junior goalie Liam Kelly have been selected as the Landmark Conference Men's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week for their performance last week.
The duo helped the Greyhounds to a 2-0 mark in Landmark Conference action last week as the Hounds defeated Drew University, 9-6, on John Makuvek Field and Juniata College, 18-5, on the road.
Minetti led the Greyhounds with 10 goals and three assists to go with three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers in the two matches. Minetti had four goals including the game-winner and two ground balls versus Drew, and he added six goals and three assists at Juniata.
"Jack may be a freshman, but he's really done a great job replacing some of our graduated players," stated Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Dave Carty. "He's got a great shot, and he understands the game really well for a freshman."
Kelly posted a 5.64 goals-against average, a 2-0 mark, 23 saves, a .697 save percentage, seven ground balls and two caused turnovers while playing 106 of 120 minutes during the week. Kelly made 12 saves with four ground balls against Drew, and he added nine saves and three ground balls over the first 46 minutes at Juniata.
"Liam has been a consistent difference maker for us in the goal," Carty said. "He makes the saves he should and makes 2-3 a game he shouldn't. He's also a great leader for us on and off the field."
The Greyhounds are slated to return to action on Friday, April 4 in a Landmark Conference contest versus Susquehanna University beginning at 4:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.
