Greyhounds Shutout Neumann to Start 2025 Campaign as DeStefano Reaches 100 Strikeouts
KISSIMMEE, Fla. --- The Moravian University softball squad opened its 2025 season with a 10-0, five-inning shutout versus Neumann University at the PFX Spring Games in Florida.

How It Happened
- The Greyhounds jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Senior shortstop Holly Walter led off the frame with a double and scored on an RBI single to left center from senior left fielder Sage Snyder. Sophomore designated player Kyra Holtje followed with a two-run homer to left field, her first collegiate home run
- The Blue & Grey added six runs in the second frame for a 9-0 advantage. Junior third baseman Sydney Andrew connected on a double to start the inning, and she moved to third when Walter reached on an error. Senior first baseman Lindsey Gawrys drove in both Andrews and Walter with a two-RBI double to left field. Snyder was hit by a pitch before Holtje ripped a two-RBI double down the left field line to chase Gawrys and Snyder home. Graduate student second baseman Ajala Elmore was hit by a pitch before Andrew ended the inning with a two-RBI single that scored Holtje and Elmore
- Moravian finished off the scoring with a run in the bottom of the third inning as Gawrys drew a one-out walk and crossed the plate on an RBI single by Holtje
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had 11 hits in the game with Holtje going 3-for-3 with five RBIs, two runs, a homer and a double
- Andrews was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run while Walter and Gawrys were both 1-for-2 with two runs and a double with Gawrys adding two RBIs
- Snyder had a hit, two runs and an RBI while Elmore contributed a hit and a run
- Junior catcher Marcie Silberman and junior outfielder Madison Berning both had a run
- Junior pitcher Sarah DeStefano scattered three hits and three walks to go with seven strikeouts in the shutout. DeStefano's first strikeout of the contest was the 100th of her career as she became the 16th Greyhound to reach the milestone
