No. 23 Hounds Sweep Rival Muhlenberg as Snyder Collects 100th Career Hit
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The No. 23 Moravian University softball team swept rival Muhlenberg College, 4-1 and 11-1 in five innings, in a non-conference doubleheader at Blue & Grey Field Thursday afternoon.

How It Happened – Game #1
- The Greyhounds jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning in the opener. Senior left fielder Sage Snyder had a leadoff double for the 100th hit of her career before junior third baseman Sydney Andrews and senior outfielder Jessica Forder both singled to load the bases. The Mules got an out at the plate on a fielder's choice before senior shortstop Holly Walter hit an RBI sacrifice fly to score Andrews. Senior first baseman Lindsey Gawrys followed with a two-RBI single to bring in Forder and sophomore center fielder Shayla Morgan, who had reached on the fielder's choice
- Muhlenberg answered with a run in the top of the third to cut the score to 3-1
- The Blue & Grey plated the final run of the game in the bottom of the third frame. Graduate student second baseman Ajala Elmore led off with a double before stealing third and racing home on a throwing error
- Junior Sarah DeStefano earned her eighth win of the season in the circle as she allowed a run on six hits to go with three strikeouts
How It Happened – Game #2
- The Mules began the second game with a run in the top of the first inning
- Moravian countered with seven runs in the bottom of the first to take control of the contest, 7-1. Walter led off with a single while Gawrys and junior designated player Marcie Silberman both drew walks to load the bases. Elmore connected on an RBI single as Walter scored while Snyder added an RBI walk to bring Gawrys home. Sophomore pitcher Kyra Holtje ripped a two-RBI single as Silberman and Elmore raced home. After a pitching change, Andrews walked before DeStefano connected on a two-RBI double as Snyder and Holtje scored. Walter came back to the plate and hit an RBI sacrifice fly to chase Andrews home
- The Hounds added four more runs in the bottom of the second frame for an 11-1 advantage. Silberman led off with a walk before sophomore Madelin Cooper came in to pinch run. Snyder hit a one-out single while Holtje connected for an RBI double to score Cooper. After another pitching change and an out, DeStefano ripped a two-RBI double to right field as Snyder and Holtje raced home. DeStefano scored the final run of the day on an RBI single from Morgan
- Holtje started in the circle and improved to 3-0 with two strikeouts in four innings of action while junior Natalie Otto struck out two of the three batters she faced in the top of the fifth inning
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian registered 17 hits in the two games with Morgan going 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI
- Holtje going 2-for-5 with three RBIs, two runs and a double while Forder was 2-for-3 with a run
- DeStefano was 2-for-2 with two doubles, two runs and three RBIs while playing in right field in the second game after pitching the opener
- Snyder went 2-for-5 with two runs, a double and an RBI while Walter had a 2-for-3 day with two RBIs and a run
- Elmore posted a 2-for-6 afternoon with two runs, a double and an RBI while Gawrys collected a hit, a run and two RBIs
- Andrews recorded a hit and two runs while Silberman and Cooper both scored a run
