No. 23 Greyhounds Sweep Drew in Landmark Conference Action
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The No. 23 Moravian University softball team swept visiting Drew University, 5-1 and 10-2 in five innings, in Landmark Conference action at Blue & Grey Field Wednesday as the Hounds completed a 12-game home stretch.

How It Happened – Game #1
- The Greyhounds took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as senior shortstop Holly Walter drew a leadoff walk and raced home on an RBI single by junior catcher Marcie Silberman
- The Rangers answered with a run in the top of the second to knot the score at 1-1
- The Hounds countered with three runs in the bottom of the second for a 4-1 edge. Senior left fielder Sage Snyder led off the frame with a walk while junior third baseman Sydney Andrews hit a one-out single before freshman Kaley Hoffman connected on a three-run homer to center field, her first career homer
- Moravian added a run in the bottom of the fifth to finish off the scoring. Graduate student second baseman Ajala Elmore led off with a single and moved into scoring position on a walk by Snyder. Andrews connected on an RBI single to score Elmore
- Junior Sarah DeStefano improved to 10-1 in the circle as she allowed an unearned run on four hits and two walks to go with seven strikeouts
How It Happened – Game #2
- The Hounds took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning in the second game as well. Walter singled to lead off and sophomore center fielder Shayla Morgan followed with a single. After an out, Walter raced home on a sacrifice fly off Elmore's bat
- Drew tied the game with a run in the top of the third inning
- Moravian countered with four runs in the bottom of the third to move back in front, 5-1. Walter and Morgan had singles to begin the frame before Silberman drilled an RBI single to bring Walter home. Elmore ripped an RBI double to bring in Morgan while sophomore pitcher Kyra Holtje had an RBI single to score sophomore pinch runner Madelin Cooper. Andrews finished the scoring with a sacrifice fly to score Elmore
- The Rangers pushed a run home in the top of the fourth to cut the score to 5-2
- The Greyhounds answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 7-2 advantage. Hoffman led off with a solo home run, her second of the day and her career. Walter drew a walk, stole second and raced home on an RBI sacrifice fly from Silberman
- Moravian scored three times in the bottom of the fifth for the NCAA run rule to end the contest. Snyder drew a leadoff walk while Holtje singled. Andrews hit another RBI sacrifice fly to bring in Snyder while DeStefano reached on an error that allowed Holtje to race home. Sophomore Cassandra Farrell came into pinch run, and after stealing second base, Farrell raced home on an RBI double from Walter
- Holtje ran her record to 5-0 this season in the circle with five strikeouts in the victory
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had 21 hits in the doubleheader with Walter going 4-for-6 with four runs, an RBI and a double
- Morgan was 3-for-6 with a run while Elmore went 3-for-6 with two runs, an RBI and a double
- Andrews posted a 3-for-5 afternoon with three RBIs and a run while Hoffman had two hits, both home runs, to go with four RBIs and two runs
- Silberman added two hits and three RBIs while Holtje recorded two hits with a run and an RBI
- Snyder had a hit, two runs and three walks while senior right fielder Jessica Forder was 1-for-3
- Farrell and Cooper each scored once as pinch runners
