No. 13 Greyhounds Sweep Elizabethtown to Clinch Top Seed in 2025 Landmark Conference Tournament
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The No. 13 Moravian University softball team swept host Elizabethtown College, 6-2 in ten innings and 13-0 in five innings, Tuesday to clinch the top seed and right to host the 2025 Landmark Conference Tournament at Blue & Grey Field on May 9-11.

How It Happened – Game #1
- The Greyhounds opened the scoring with a run in the top of the fifth inning. Junior third baseman Sydney Andrews and freshman designated player Kaley Hoffman had singles to begin the frame while senior right fielder Jessica Forder put down a sacrifice bunt. Sophomore pinch hitter Kyra Holtje hit an RBI groundout to score Andrews
- The Blue Jays countered with two runs, only one earned, in the bottom of the fifth to take a 2-1 lead
- Moravian answered with a run in the top of the sixth to knot the score at 2-2. Junior catcher Marcie Silberman hit a lead-off single before sophomore Madelin Cooper came in to pinch run. Graduate student second baseman Ajala Elmore reached on a fielder's choice with Cooper safe at second before senior left fielder Sage Snyder hit a single to center field as Cooper raced home on a throwing error
- The game remained tied and went into extra innings with neither team scoring in the eighth or ninth innings
- The Hounds began the tenth inning with senior shortstop Holly Walter at second base for the international tiebreaker, and the Blue & Grey went on to score four runs in the inning for a 6-2 advantage. Walter raced to third on a throwing error while freshman catcher Sydney Scarpato hit an RBI sacrifice fly to give Moravian the lead as Walter scored. Elmore and Snyder hit back-to-back doubles with Elmore scoring while Snyder scampered home on an RBI single from Andrews. After a walk by Hoffman, Forder ripped an RBI single to chase Andrews across the plate
- Elizabethtown was unable to score in the bottom of the tenth
- Junior Sarah DeStefano ran her record to 18-1 on the season with 12 strikeouts and no walks in the 10-inning complete game
How It Happened – Game #2
- The Blue & Grey opened the scoring in the second game with a run in the top of the second inning. Holtje singled with two outs, stole second and raced home on an RBI single by Andrews
- Moravian stretched the advantage to 7-0 with six runs in the top of the third inning. Sophomore center fielder Shayla Morgan and Walter both had singles before a sacrifice bunt by senior first baseman Lindsey Gawrys moved the runners. Junior catcher Marcie Silberman ripped a two-RBI single to score both Morgan and Walter before Cooper came in to pinch run. Elmore connected on ab RBI double to bring in Cooper as Elmore recorded her 100th career RBI. Snyder added a single before Holtje connected on a three-run homer, her fourth home run of the season
- The Greyhounds pushed another six runs home in the top of the fourth inning. Morgan led off again with a single, and she scampered home on an RBI double by Gawrys. Silberman followed with a single as sophomore Cassandra Farrell was inserted to run. Elmore hit an RBI single as Gawrys scored while Snyder had a two-RBI single to chase in Farrell and Elmore. Holtje followed with an RBI double to bring Snyder home while Andrews ripped an RBI single that scored Holtje with the final run
- Holtje made the start in the circle and improved to 10-1 on the year with three strikeouts while freshman Riley Robinson made her collegiate debut with one strikeout in the final inning
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian registered 26 hits in the two games with Andrews going 4-for-7 with three RBIs and two runs
- Holtje was 3-for-4 with five RBIs, three runs, a homer and a double while Snyder went 4-for-7 with three runs, three RBIs and a double
- Silberman also had a 4-for-7 afternoon with two RBIs and a double while Elmore added three hits, two RBIs, three runs and a pair of doubles
- Walter and Morgan each posted two this with two runs while Gawrys had one hit, a run, an RBI and a double
- Forder had a hit and an RBI while freshman designated player Kaley Hoffman and sophomore outfielder Leah Chladny both added one hit
- Cooper scored twice on the day while Farrell scored once
