No. 18 Greyhounds Rally in Sixth for Win over Catholic to Open Landmark Conference Tournament Championship Round
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The top seed and No. 18 Moravian University softball squad rallied with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to earn a 5-4 win over second seed The Catholic University of America in the first contest of a best-of-three series in the championship round of the 2025 Landmark Conference Tournament at Blue & Grey Field Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
- The Greyhounds jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning. With two outs, junior catcher Marcie Silberman connected on a solo home run to right field to open the scoring. The homer was Silberman's 14th of the season and the 36th of her career to tie both the Moravian and Landmark Conference records set by Brooke Wehr '21. Graduate student second baseman Ajala Elmore followed with a double before senior left fielder Sage Snyder ripped an RBI double down the right field line to score Elmore
- The Cardinals cut the lead in half to 2-1 with a run in the top of the fourth inning, and Catholic added a run in the top of the fifth on a solo home run to even the contest at 2-2
- Catholic took a 4-2 advantage with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth
- The Hounds countered with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to retake a 5-4 edge. Elmore hit a one-out double to right center. After an out and a walk by junior third baseman Sydney Andrews, junior right fielder Sarah DeStefano ripped an RBI single through the right side to score Elmore. Senior designated player Jessica Forder followed with a two RBI double off the fence in left center as Andrews and DeStefano raced around the bases to give the Blue & Grey the lead again
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian collected seven hits in the contest with Elmore going 2-for-3 with two runs and a pair of doubles
- DeStefano was 2-for-3 with an RBI, a double and a run while Forder went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a double
- Silberman was also 1-for-3 with her solo home run and an RBI while Snyder added a hit, an RBI and a double
- Junior Natalie Otto made the start in the circle and recorded three strikeouts in 5.1 innings of action. Sophomore Kyra Holtje came in relief and had one strikeout in 1.2 innings to get the win and improve to 11-2 on the season
