Moravian Sweeps Close Match with Gwynedd Mercy to Close Out Regular Season
GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. --- The Moravian University women’s volleyball team swept a close match from host Gwynedd Mercy University Thursday evening, winning 25-22, 25-22, 32-30, to close out the 2025 regular season.

How It Happened
- The squads traded points early in the opening set with neither team leading by more than a point before the Greyhounds scored four straight points to take a 12-9 edge. The Griffins came back to tie the game at 17-17 before the Blue & Grey recorded six of seven points on the way to a 25-22 set victory in a 1-0 advantage
- The second set also began with the Hounds and Griffins trading points before Gwynedd Mercy moved out to an 8-4 lead. Moravian rallied back for a 13-11 edge, and the Hounds were up 20-16 before the Griffins got within one at 21-20. The Blue & Grey scored four of the last six points to capture the set 25-22 and take a 2-0 lead
- The tight third set didn't see either team lead by more than two points until the Hounds went up 10-7. Gwynedd Mercy countered with ten of the next 12 points to lead 17-12. Moravian answered back and led 20-19, and the Greyhounds were up 24-21, just a point from ending the match when the Griffins scored four straight points to go ahead 25-24 and push the set further. The Blue & Grey scored the final two points to win the set 32-30 and complete the sweep
Inside the Numbers
- Junior outside hitter Gabbie Reigner led the Greyhounds with 14 kills to go with 12 digs and four service aces while junior middle blocker Payton Reuber recorded eight kills and a pair of blocks
- Freshman middle blocker Morgan Holland added seven kills and three blocks while sophomore middle blocker Kate McBrierty posted five kills and five blocks
- Junior outside hitter Kelly Tempalsky registered three kills and three digs while senior outside hitter Caroline Melillo had two kills and two blocks
- Senior Ally Plitnick led Moravian with 31 assists, 11 digs and three kills while junior libero Sam Love contributed 12 digs and three assists
- Sophomore defensive specialist Madalyn Kocsis added six digs and two assists while junior defensive specialist Molly Hughes had six digs and freshman setter Aubrey Pringle posted three assists and three digs
