Moravian Fall Twice in Tri-Match at Misericordia
DALLAS, Pa. --- The Moravian University women’s volleyball team fell to host Misericordia University, 3-1, and Montclair State University, 3-2, in a non-conference tri-match Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened – Misericordia
- The Greyhounds jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead in the opening set before the Cougars tied the set at 5-5. Misericordia slowly pulled away for a 25-20 set win and a 1-0 lead
- The second set was close early with the score knotted at 4-4. The Blue & Grey scored nine of 11 points to build a 13-6 advantage, and Moravian took the game 25-18 to even the match at 1-1
- Once again, the Hounds were up 4-2 early in the third set; however, the Cougars rallied and won 25-14 go back on top 2-1
- Misericordia was in control the entire fourth set, winning 25-11 to capture the match
- Junior middle blocker Payton Reuber led the Greyhounds with nine kills and two blocks while freshman outside hitter Lauren Donnelly added six kills, three service aces and three digs
- Junior outside hitter Gabbie Reigner contributed five kills, seven digs and a pair of service aces while freshman middle blocker Morgan Holland posted six kills and sophomore opposite hitter Ella Kilko had three kills
- Freshman setter Aubrey Pringle led the offense with 24 assists to go with eight digs and a pair of kills while junior libero Sam Love recorded 14 digs to go along with two service aces and two assists
- Junior defensive specialist Molly Hughes had three digs while junior outside hitter Kelly Templasky recorded a kill and a dig
How It Happened – Montclair State
- Moravian had a quick 3-2 lead in the opening set versus the Red Hawks before Montclair State scored 14 of 18 points to move ahead 16-7. The Red Hawks went on to take the first game, 25-16, for a 1-0 advantage
- The second set once again saw Montclair State out to a 15-8 lead before the Greyhounds rallied. Freshman opposite hitter Adi Schwerdtfeger served six straight points to pull the Blue & Grey within a point at 15-14, and the Hounds eventually scored seven of the final eight points to capture the set, 26-24, and knot the match at 1-1
- Moravian had another early lead at 5-1 in the third set before the Red Hawks countered to go up 13-8. Montclair State would win the set 25-18 for a 2-1 edge
- The fourth set was back-and-forth until Montclair State took an 18-11 lead. The Hounds countered with 11 of the next 13 points to go ahead 22-19 before winning the set 25-22 to force the deciding fifth set
- The Blue & Grey had a 5-3 lead early in the final game before the Red Hawks scored nine straight points. Montclair State claimed the game 15-7 to win the match
- Reuber led Moravian with 12 kills to go with three blocks while Tempalsky added eight kills
- Holland had six kills, two blocks and a pair of digs while senior outside hitter Caroline Melillo posted six kills, six digs and two service aces
- Senior setter Ally Plitnick ran the offense with 24 assists, and she had ten digs and six kills as well while Reigner registered four kills and three digs
- Schwerdtfeger recorded three kills, three digs and two blocks while Kilko contributed two kills
- Hughes had ten digs and seven assists while sophomore defensive specialist Madalyn Kocsis posted nine digs
- Love contributed eight digs, five assists and two service aces while junior defensive specialist Morgan Hughes had seven digs
