14 Hounds Garner Landmark Women’s Outdoor Track & Field All-Conference Accolades
TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian University women’s outdoor track & field squad had 14 student-athletes honored by the Landmark Conference for their performances at the 2026 Landmark Outdoor Championships last weekend hosted by Juniata College.
TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian University women's outdoor track & field squad had 14 student-athletes honored by the Landmark Conference for their performances at the 2026 Landmark Outdoor Championships last weekend hosted by Juniata College.
The Hounds finished as the runner-up at the meet, finishing 26.5 points behind The University of Scranton.
The Blue & Grey had two student-athletes garner All-Conference First Team accolades with senior Tara Smurla for winning the 10,000-meter run again and sophomore Emma Shafnisky capturing the 100-meter hurdles.
Moravian had nine Second Team honorees for finishing as the runner-up in their events including Shafinisky in the long jump. Shafnisky also teamed up with senior Shai Knight, sophomore Kennedy Simons and freshman Morgan Tandy for runner-up finish in the 4x100-meter dash. Simons took second in the triple jump while sophomore Jessica Heydt was the runner-up in the hammer throw. Junior Alexis Hockenberry finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase while sophomore Tessa Hopkins was the runner-up in the pole vault.
The Greyhounds earned seven Honorable Mention accolades led by senior Margie Rayne taking third in the discus and shot put. Senior Ali Haefele was third in both the high jump and triple jump while sophomore Becca Caird finished third in the javelin. Junior Alyssa Hockenberry took third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase while junior Rachele Grigoli was third in the 400-meter dash and sophomore Naaliyah Slater was third in the hammer throw.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Monday, May 11 at the Widener University Last Chance Meet.
