Moravian Shuts Out Delaware Valley on Senior Day
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University field hockey squad outscored Delaware Valley University in the second half for a 2-0 non-conference victory on John Makuvek Field Saturday afternoon. Prior to the game, the Greyhounds honored their four seniors and one graduate student with a Senior Day celebration.

How It Happened
- The match was back and forth for the first half of the contest with most action being played in the center of the field
- The Hounds held an advantage in both shots and corners in the first two quarters but would go into the half knotted at 0-0
- The Greyhounds took a 1-0 lead in the second minute of play of the third quarter as senior forward Gia Ambrosino knocked in a goal after a pass from sophomore forward Samantha Culver
- Moravian would have another attempt four minutes later by junior midfielder Maddie Snyder that would ricochet off the post
- Two minutes into the fourth quarter, Moravian earned a penalty corner that would lead to an inbounded pass to Culver, whose pass would be tipped in by Ambrosino to extend the lead to 2-0 over the Aggies
- The Hounds had three more shots saved before the end of regulation
- Prior to the match, Moravian honored seniors forward Gia Ambrosino, defender Carolina Catilao-Sanchez, midfielder Megan Felmly and goalie Jessica Knox and graduate student defender Jordan Sponzo
Inside the Numbers
- Ambrosino scored the only two goals for the Hounds to give her nine goals for the season and making her the eighth player in program history to reach 30 career goals
- Culver earned a pair of assists to give her three for the year
- The Greyhounds outshot the Aggies 15-3 with junior goalie Maia Machado earning three saves on the day to earn her first shutout of the season and the eighth of her career, which is fourth in program history. Machado also recorded her 20th career victory to move into a tie for fourth in school history
- Moravian had 11 corners to the Aggies five with Ambrosino inbounding 10 of them and sophomore forward Sophia Calantoni on the other
