Greyhounds Fall to Catholic in Double Overtime
WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The Moravian University field hockey squad took an early first quarter lead; however, the Hounds fell to host The Catholic University of America, 2-1 in double overtime, in Landmark Conference action Sunday afternoon.

How It Happened
- The Greyhounds opened the scoring in the fifth minute of action when senior forward Gia Ambrosino netted an unassisted goal for the 1-0 edge
- Neither squad was able to score in the second quarter as the score remained 1-0 for the Hounds at the intermission
- Both teams took three shots during the third quarter; however, Moravian 1-0 edge stayed at 1-0 after 45 minutes of play
- The Cardinals evened the score at 1-1 with a goal in the 51st minute of action
- As the match headed to overtime, the Blue & Grey had the first opportunity to score with Catholic needing a defensive save to keep the match knotted at 1-1. The Cardinals put three shots on goal in the final three minutes of the first overtime but the teams would head to a second overtime
- Catholic notched the winning goal just over six minutes into the second overtime session
Inside the Numbers
- Ambrosino scored her team-leading 12th goal of the season to raise her career total to 33, which is fourth in program history
- Junior goalie Maia Machado registered ten saves in the contest
- The Cardinals held a 22-12 advantage in shots and a 15-6 edge in penalty corners
