TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University senior Bryan Kerchner has selected Landmark Conference Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honors for his performance last week.
Kerchner captured first in the mile run at the Hounds Classic in Lehigh University's Rauch Fieldhouse with an All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference qualifying time of 4:19.02. He also ran the second leg of Moravian's "B" 4x400-meter relay that placed 11th in a time of 3:41.06.
"He's had a few small illnesses over the past week and even had to stay away and modify a workout this week so we had some uncertainty going into the meet about what he could run," commented Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann. "He just gave it a shot, fed off the leaders in about 2:08 through the half mile and then took charge of the race. Logan was starting to come up on his heels in the final 400 or so, but Bryan could sense him coming and sustained a really strong ending for the best time he's run on an indoor flat track. We feel this shows he has a great chance to surpass his school record later on this winter."
The Greyhounds are slated to return to action on Saturday, January 31 with the squad splitting between the Ithaca (N.Y.) College Bomber Invitational and the Alvernia University Plex Shootout.
