TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian University men’s indoor track & field squad had a total of 21 student-athletes honored by the Landmark Conference for their performances at the 2026 Landmark Indoor Championships last weekend at Susquehanna University.
The Greyhounds, who finished second at the conference meet, garnered 24 All-Conference honors from those 12 student-athletes with freshman Jayden Walls named the Male Field Performer of the Year.
Walls won the long jump to earn Landmark All-Conference First Team honors, and he also finished fifth in the high jump to score a meet-high 15 points in the field events. Walls is the eighth Greyhound to be selected as the Landmark Conference Male Field Performer of the Year, and the second straight after junior Anthony Morillo received the honor last winter.
“We’ve seen this potential in Jayden all winter, it was just a matter of piecing things together,” commented Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann. “He has tremendous power and explosiveness, but he’s been inconsistent with his running mechanics after his drive phase in both of the jumping events. He’s been getting closer and closer, so we knew it was just a matter of time before he made a huge progression. Luckily it all happened on Saturday. As impressive as it was for him to improve by more than 2 feet in one day, he did most of it in his final jumps when the pressure was the highest, or we needed it the most. His 6th jump on Saturday was when he improved another foot to ultimately take the win which shows how good he is under pressure in the big moments.
“We’re extremely fortunate to have Jayden here. He is eager to learn more, we have to cut how much he wants to work in practice each day because he’s constantly seeking perfection and ways to refine each attempt. He’s a true teammate in every sense of the word and a tremendous asset to have in our program. He still has a lot to work on with his frontside mechanics in his long jump run, so this is just the start of things, but ultimately it was a great day for Jayden in what is going to become a tremendous career,” Baumann finished.
The Hounds had six other student-athlete earn Landmark All-Conference First Team as conference champions in their events with junior Gavin Hefferan winning the 5,000-meter run, freshman Parker Hamilton capturing the shot put and the quarter of junior Jordan Gagner, sophomore Charles Champagne and freshmen Eric Boyce and Gavin Casey placing first in the distance medley relay.
Moravian had seven All-Conference Second Team honorees with runner-up finishes including graduate student Cole Stanchina placing second in the 5,000-meter run, junior Logan Betyeman finishing second in the mile run, sophomore Julius Reyes taking second in the 35-pound weight throw and the quartet of graduate student Kyle Weiss, senior Jacob Fenstermaker, sophomore Owen Smith and freshman Shane Pratt placing second in the 4x200-meter relay.
The Greyhounds also had ten Honorable Mention All-Conference selections for student-athletes that finished third in an event including Fenstermaker in the 60-meter dash, senior Bryan Kerchner in the mile run, sophomore Chris Petit-Frere in the weight throw, freshman Brady McKenna in the pole vault, freshman Justin Nunes in the triple jump and the quartet of Weiss, Smith, sophomore Delferson Contreras and freshman Ramses Valera in the 4x400-meter relay.
