BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's basketball program has named senior guard Jayda Cartagena and junior forward Grace Steffen as its captains for the 2025-26 season.
"I am excited to announce our captains for the season in Grace and Jayda," commented Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk. "Both have exemplified the qualities of a strong leader on and off the court. Grace is returning from an injury that kept her off the court last season. And while the year off was spent rehabbing, she also used that time to enhance her leadership skills. Jayda, a two-year captain, gives us experience along with guidance for our younger players. I look forward to watching them lead our team this season."
Cartagena has seen action in 75 games with 12 starts during career with the Greyhounds, and she has posted career totals of 343 points, 129 rebounds, 88 assists, 55 steals and six blocked shots at Moravian.
Steffen returns to the Moravian line-up this season after missing the 2024-25 campaign due to an injury. Steffen has started 23 27 26 career contests, and she has recorded 207 points, 196 rebounds, 31 steals, 19 blocked shots and 15 assists.
The Greyhounds, 1-1 overall this winter, are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, November 19 with a Landmark Conference game versus Elizabethtown College beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall as Moravian plays its first home game and Landmark Conference contest of the season.
