Hounds Race Past Falcons in Second Half in First Day of 22nd Steel Club Classic
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women’s basketball squad outscored visiting Cedar Crest College, 42-13 in the second half on the way to a 79-39 victory over the Falcons in the first day of the 22nd Steel Club Classic in Johnston Hall Monday afternoon.

How It Happened
- The Greyhounds score first on a free throw from sophomore guard Ellie Wallbillich before the Falcons hit a three-pointer. The teams traded baskets until the Hounds moved ahead 15-11 on a lay-up from sophomore guard Kylie Cabana with 2:55 left in the first quarter. Cedar Crest ran of five straight points to move ahead 16-15 before a three-pointer by senior guard Juliana Vassallo and a lay-up from junior forward Lanie Herbert in the final minute of the period had the Blue & Grey up 20-16 after ten minutes of action
- Moravian started the second quarter with an 11-0 run as junior forward Grace Steffen sank a free throw at the 6:22 mark for a 31-16 advantage. The Falcons closed to within ten points twice before the Greyhounds headed to the intermission with a 37-26 lead on a late free throw from Herbert
- Cedar Crest got within nine points at 39-30 just over four minutes into the second half before the Hounds went on a 21-5 run to end the quarter with a 60-35 edge as Steffen beat the buzzer with a long three-pointer
- The Blue & Grey stretched the lead to as many as 42 points in the fourth quarter as Moravian advanced to the championship game of the Steel Club Classic for the 18th time. The Hounds will be looking to add their 12th tournament title on Tuesday
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had two players in double digits with Steffen netting a game-high 13 points to go with five rebounds and three blocked shots
- Wallbillich added 11 points, three rebounds and three assists while Herbert, senior guard Jayda Cartagena and sophomore forward Kate Donaldson all had eight points with Herbert adding four rebounds, Cartagena posting four assists and two boards and Donaldson contributing four assists and three rebounds
- Freshman guard Abby Hayes tossed in seven points to go with two rebounds and three steals while Vassallo and freshman guard Mallory Elias each had five points while Vassallo making three steals and Elias registering four assists and three rebounds
- Sophomore guard Megan Elias had four points, two assists, two assists and two steals while junior guard Lizzie Lustig also had four points
- Cabana finished with two points to go with seven rebounds while sophomore guard Kylie Sheridan had two points, three boards and a pair of assists and sophomore forward Brynn Ohlhoff had two points, two rebounds and two assists
- Junior forward Bellisima Lew pulled down three rebounds as the Hounds had a 42-28 advantage on the boards including 15-6 on the offensive glass
- The Blue & Grey shot 33-for-67 from the field (49.3 percent), 3-for-15 on three-pointers and 10-for-17 at the foul line, and Moravian forced Cedar Crest into 29 turnovers while committing just 13 miscues
