DeStefano Named as Landmark Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week
TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University senior pitcher/outfielder Sarah DeStefano has been named as the Landmark Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for her performance last week.
TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University senior pitcher/outfielder Sarah DeStefano has been named as the Landmark Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for her performance last week.
DeStefano was a big part of the Greyhounds 3-1 week in non-conference action with 2-0 in the circle with a shutout and a 0.00 ERA. She allowed just seven hits and a walk to go with 10 strikeouts in 13 innings. At the plate, DeStefano was 3-for-10 at the plate with two runs, two RBIs, two sacrifice bunts and a stolen base, and she contributed a putout and five assists in six chances in the field while starting in right field when not pitching. DeStefano recorded a 4-0 shutout at rival Muhlenberg with five strikeouts and just a walk and two hits in seven innings, and she pitched six shutout innings with five hits, no walks and five strikeouts in a 9-3 victory at Ursinus College.
"Sarah had two great starts this past week in the circle," commented Head Softball Coach Josh Baltz. She was dominant in both outings, worked ahead, and pitched with an excellent plan. She continues to contribute to the team in many ways and puts us in a position to win."
Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Thursday, April 2 in a non-conference doubleheader at Alvernia University beginning at 3:00 p.m.
