Greyhounds Win Twice on Opening Day of 2026 Landmark Conference Tournament to Move into Championship Round
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University softball team defeated fifth seed Wilkes University, 3-1, and second seed The Catholic University of America, 7-4, on the opening day of the 2026 Landmark Conference Tournament at Blue & Grey Field Friday.

How It Happened – Wilkes Game
- The Greyhounds took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Senior designated player Marcie Silberman connected on a one-out, solo home run to right field, her fifth homer of the season and 43rd of her career
- The Blue & Grey added a run in the bottom of the fourth frame. Junior center fielder Shayla Morgan connected on a one-out single and stole second base before racing home on an RBI single from freshman left fielder Natalie Chloros
- Moravian pushed the edge to 3-0 with a run in the bottom of the fifth. Silberman hit a two-out single before junior second baseman Emma Grace Pachkowski came into pinch run. Sophomore first baseman Kaley Hoffman followed with an RBI triple as Pachkowski circled the bases
- The Colonels got on the scoreboard with a run in the top of the seventh inning
- Senior Sarah DeStefano made the start in the circle, and she recorded five strikeouts in a complete game victory
How It Happened – Catholic Game
- The Hounds jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Senior third baseman Sydney Andrews hit a one-out single while junior designated player Kyra Holtje reached on an error. Silberman ripped a two-RBI double to bring Andrews and Holtje home before junior Madelin Cooper came into pinch run. DeStefano added a single before senior shortstop Samantha Derickson connected on an RBI single that scored Cooper. Hoffman followed with a two-RBI double to scored DeStefano and Derickson
- The Cardinals countered with a pair of runs in the top of the second frame to cut the score to 5-2
- Moravian scored a run in the bottom of the fifth to make it 6-2. Andrews led off with a single and stole second before Silberman ripped an RBI single to score Andrews
- Catholic added a run in the top of the sixth
- The Blue & Grey pushed a run home in the bottom half of the sixth for a 7-3 edge. Sophomore pinch hitter Amelia Noll reached on an error with junior Cassandra Farrell coming into pinch run. Morgan had a sacrifice bunt before Chloros hit an RBI single as Farrell raced home
- The Cardinals finished the scoring with a run in the top of the seventh
- Senior Natalie Otto started in the circle and pitched two innings. DeStefano came in and tossed the final five innings, and she had three strikeouts for her second victory of the day
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian registered 18 hits in the two games with Silberman going 5-for-6 with a homer, a double, a run and four RBIs
- Hoffman was 3-for-6 with three RBIs, a double and a triple while Andrews contributed three hits and two runs
- Morgan collected two hits and a run while Chloros had a pair of hits and two RBIs
- Derickson posted a hit, a run and an RBI while DeStefano added a hit and a run
- Holtje contributed a hit and a run while Pachkowski, Cooper and Farrell all scored once
