Moravian Sweeps Juniata to Close Out 2026 Regular Season
HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- The Moravian University softball squad swept host Juniata College, 4-1 and 15-2 in five innings, in Landmark Conference action Saturday to close out the 2026 regular season.

How It Happened – Game #1
- The Greyhounds jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Senior designated player Marcie Silberman led off with a double, and junior Emma Grace Pachkowski came in to run. After a single and stolen base by sophomore first baseman Kaley Hoffman, sophomore catcher Sydney Scarpato connected on a two-RBI single as Pachkowski and Hoffman raced home
- The Blue & Grey added two runs in the fourth frame to make it 4-0. Hoffman led off with a double, and she moved to third on a single by Scarpato. Junior center fielder Shayla Moran hit an RBI groundout as Hoffman scored while senior third baseman Sydney Andrews ripped an RBI single to score Scarpato
- The Eagles scored once in the bottom of the fourth
- Senior pitcher Sarah DeStefano started in the circle, and she recorded five strikeouts while allowing an unearned run for her 13th win of the season
How It Happened – Game #2
- Moravian took a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning in the second game. Freshman left fielder Natalie Chloros was hit by a pitch to start the frame while Andrews followed with a two-run homer, her second home run of the season
- Juniata answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first to knot the score at 2-2
- The Hounds retook the advantage with a seven-run second inning to make it 9-2. Hoffman got things going with a double while Scarpato singles and Morgan walked to load the bases. Chloros drew an RBI walk to push Hoffman home before Andrews connected on a grand slam for her third career homer. After an out, senior shortstop Samantha Derickson drew a walk and DeStefano hit an infield single. Hoffman came back to the plate and ripped a two-RBI single as Derickson and DeStefano both raced home
- The Blue & Grey added six runs in the top of the fifth to make it 15-2. Silberman led off with a solo home run, her fourth of the season as she extended her Moravian and Landmark Conference record total to 42. Scarpato hit a one-out single before sophomore Amelia Noll hit a pinch-hit, two-run homer, the first home run of her career. Moravian loaded the bases again with a walk by Chloros and singles from Morgan and junior pitcher Kyra Holtje. Freshman pinch hitter Nicole Giglio hit into a fielder's choice as Chloros was thrown out at the plate. Junior pinch hitter Cassandra Farrell followed with a three-RBI double that scored Andrews, Holtje and Giglio
- Holtje tossed the first four innings in the circle and had one strikeout for her tenth win of the season while senior Natalie Otto posted a pair of strikeouts in an inning of action
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian collected 23 hits in the twinbill with Andrews going 4-for-8 with three runs, two homers and seven RBIs
- Hoffman had a 4-for-6 day with three runs, three RBIs and a pair of doubles while Scarpato was also 4-for-6 with three runs and two RBIs
- Silberman went 3-for-7 with a home run, an RBI, a run and a double while Holtje added three hits, a run and a triple
- DeStefano added two hits and a run while Noll was 1-for-1 with her homer and two RBIs
- Farrell was also 1-for-1 with a double and three RBIs while Morgan registered a hit, a run and an RBI
- Chloros scored twice and had an RBI while Derickson, Pachkowski and Giglio all touched the plate once
