Moravian Falls at No. 4 Kean to Begin 2026 Campaign
UNION, N.J. --- The Moravian University baseball squad began its 2026 season falling to No. 4 Kean (N.J.) University, 16-6, in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon.

How It Happened
- The Greyhounds opened the scoring with a run in the top of the second inning. Senior first baseman Sean Superka led off with a single through the left side, and he advanced to third on an RBI single through the left side by sophomore third baseman Emmit Budick. Junior designated hitter David Rodriguez connected on an RBI fielder's choice to send Superka home with the first run of the season
- The Cougars countered with three runs in the bottom of the second frame to move ahead, 3-1
- The Blue & Grey loaded the bases in the top of the third inning on three walks, but were unable to push a run home
- Kean plated seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and one more in the fifth for an 11-1 advantage
- Moravian scored twice in the top of the sixth frame. Superka was hit by a pitch and raced around the bases on an RBI double by sophomore shortstop David Vozzo. After a single from Budick moved Vozzo to third, Rodriguez connected on an RBI groundout to score Vozzo
- The Cougars answered with three runs in the bottom of the sixth for 14-3 edge
- The Hounds pushed three more runs across the plate in the top of the seventh. Sophomore second baseman Owen Ness led off with a walk before sophomore center fielder Luke Keitsock was hit by a pitch. After a wild pitch, sophomore left fielder Troy Rabosky ripped an RBI single through the left side to chase Ness home. Superka was hit by another pitch to load the bases while Budick reached on an error that allowed Keitsock and Rabosky to race across the plate
- Kean scored the final two runs of the contest in the bottom of the eighth inning
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had seven hits in the game with Budick going 3-for-4 with a walk
- Superka went 1-for-2, scored twice and was on base in four of his five plate appearances while Rodriguez had a pair of RBIs in his first contest with the Hounds
- Keitsock, Rabosky and Vozzo all had one hit and scored once with Rabosky and Vozzo adding RBIs
- Ness crossed the plate once while Keitsock and freshman right fielder Jack Cappo both drew two walks
- Sophomore Andrew Sagrestano made the start on the mound and tossed two innings with a strikeout. Junior Nick Leonard pitched 1.1 innings while freshman Sean Heissler went two-thirds of an inning
- Junior Caden Ward, junior Nate McBride, sophomore Cam Elicier and junior Wes Griffith each pitched one inning and recorded one strikeout
