Moravian Falls to Juniata in 13 Innings to End Spring Break Trip to RussMatt Invitational
AUBURNDALE, Fla. --- The Moravian University baseball squad finished its week at the RussMatt Invitational, falling to Juniata College, 8-7, in 13 innings Saturday to end the season-opening Landmark Conference series.

How It Happened
- The Greyhounds jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Sophomore left fielder Troy Rabosky led off with a single while sophomore center fielder Luke Keitsock was hit by a pitch. After an out, senior first baseman Sean Superka connected on a two-RBI double to score both Rabosky and Keitsock, and Superka raced home on an RBI single from junior designated hitter David Rodriguez
- The Blue & Grey added a run in the bottom of the second for a 4-0 edge. Keitsock singled with two out and moved into scoring position on a wild pitch before coming home on an RBI double by sophomore shortstop David Vozzo
- The Eagles got onto the scoreboard with two runs in the top of the fourth inning to cut the score to 4-2
- Juniata tied the game at 4-4 with two more runs in the sixth frame
- The Eagles took the lead in the top of the seventh for a 5-4 advantage
- Moravian answered in the bottom of the seventh to knot the score again at 5-5. Junior right fielder Matt Westcott drew a two-out walk and moved into scoring position on a wild pitch before Rodriguez connected on an RBI single up the middle to score Westcott
- The Hounds moved back ahead 6-5 with a run in the bottom of the eighth. Sophomore second baseman Nathan Jones led off with a bunt single, and an error pushed Jones to third. Rabosky and Keitsock drew walks to load the bases before Vozzo hit an RBI sacrifice fly to bring Jones home
- Juniata scored twice in the top of the ninth for a 7-6 edge
- Moravian countered with a run in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings tied at 7-7. Rodriguez walked with one out before freshman Nick Mancini came into pinch run. Mancini stole second base and raced home on an RBI single from freshman catcher Chris Whalen
- The Blue & Grey loaded the bases both in the bottom of the 11th and 12th but were unable to get a run to finish the contest
- The Eagles scored an unearned run in the top of the 13th to move ahead 8-7
- The Hounds put two runners on in the bottom of the 13th but were unable to tie the game
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian collected 17 hits in the marathon game with Whalen going 2-for-2 with an RBI
- Rabosky was 2-for-3 with a run while Rodriguez had a 2-for-4 game with a pair of RBIs
- Keitsock recorded two hits and scored twice while Vozzo had two hits, a double and two RBIs
- Westcott also posted two hits with a run while Superka added a hit, a run, a double and two RBIs
- Jones had a run and a hit while sophomore third baseman Owen Ness, sophomore catcher Ronnie Werkheiser and junior left fielder Domenic Venini all had one hit
- Mancini scored a run for the Blue & Grey
- Sophomore Andrew Sagrestano started on the hill and had two strikeouts in five innings of action. Junior Nate McBride tossed an inning with one strikeout while freshman Sean Heissler pitched an inning and had one strikeout. Junior Wes Griffith had a strikeout in an inning-plus of action while junior Nick Leonard tossed two innings with a strikeout. Sophomore Cam Elicier added two strikeouts in three innings of work
- The 13-inning game was the fourth in program history, tying for the longest game for the Greyhounds. It is the fourth 13-inning game since 2010 and third to take place in Florida as part of the Spring Break trip
