Moravian Rallies in 8th for Non-Conference Win at Alvernia
READING, Pa. --- The Moravian University baseball squad scored nine runs in the top of the eighth to rally for an 11-7 non-conference victory at Alvernia University Sunday afternoon.

How It Happened
- The Greyhounds jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Freshman right fielder John Phillips led off with a single and raced around the bases on an RBI triple from freshman second baseman Jack Cappo. Sophomore third baseman Owen Ness added an RBI groundout to score Cappo
- The Golden Wolves answered in the bottom of the third frame with three runs to take a 3-2 edge
- Alvernia added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth and one in the seventh inning to make it 7-2
- Moravian pushed nine runs home in the top of the eighth on just two hits to move back ahead 11-7. Ness and sophomore shortstop David Vozzo drew walks, and a throwing error on a double steal allowed Ness to score. Senior first baseman Sean Superka and junior pinch hitter Ryan Hoffman were hit by pitches to load the bases before sophomore catcher Ronnie Werkheiser drew a walk to send Vozzo across the plate. Phillips delivered a three-RBI double down the left field line to clear the bases as Superka, Hoffman and Werkheiser scored. Cappo and sophomore center fielder Luke Keitsock to load the bases again. Ness was hit by a pitch to push Phillips home with the go-ahead run while Vozzo drew a walk that scored Cappo. Sophomore left fielder Troy Rabosky was hit by a pitch that pushed Keitsock across the plate while Superka connected on an RBI single to chase Ness home for the second time in the inning.

- Cappo had a triple, an RBI and two runs while Superka added a hit, a run and an RBI
- Rabosky contributed a hit and an RBI while Ness had two runs and two RBIs
- Vozzo and Werkheiser each had a run and an RBI while Hoffman and Keitsock both scored a run
- Senior Ross Huffman made the start on the mound, and he had a pair of strikeouts in four innings of action to become the 22nd pitcher in program to reach 100 career strikeouts. Senior Matt Snyder tossed five innings for the victory, and he struck out three batters
