Hounds Split with Lycoming on Senior Day
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University baseball team split with visiting Lycoming College, falling 14-0 in seven innings and winning 5-4, in Landmark Conference action Saturday at Gillespie Field as the Hounds celebrated Senior Day.

How It Happened – Game #1
- The Warriors jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning, and Lycoming added a run in the third frame to make it 2-0
- Lycoming scored four times in the fifth, twice in the sixth and six times in the seventh to get to the run rule to end the game after seven innings
- Senior Ross Huffman started on the mound and had four strikeouts in 4.1 innings of action while junior Nick Leonard tossed 1.2 innings. Junior Wes Griffith had one strikeout in a third of an inning while senior Max Sponheimer pitched the final two-thirds of an inning
How It Happened – Game #2
- The Greyhounds opened the scoring in the second game with a run in the second inning. Senior first baseman Sean Superka, sophomore catcher Ronnie Werkheiser and junior designated hitter David Rodriguez each had singles to load the bases while freshman second baseman Joe Loiacono and sophomore third baseman Owen Ness each hit a fielder's choice with the Warriors making an out at the plate. Freshman right fielder John Phillips drew a walk to push Rodriguez home
- The Blue & Grey pushed the edge to 2-0 with another run in the third frame. Superka and Werkheiser drew two-out walks while Rodriguez was hit by a pitch to load the bases before Loiacono hit an RBI infield single that scored Superka
- Moravian doubled the advantage to 4-0 with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Sophomore shortstop David Vozzo was hit by a pitch while sophomore left fielder Troy Rabosky hit a single to put two runners on. Sophomore center fielder Luke Keitsock ripped a two-RBI triple to right field as Vozzo and Rabosky raced around the bases
- Lycoming scored four times in the top of the sixth to knot the score at 4-4
- The Hounds scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Ness led off with a double and moved to third on a failed pickoff attempt. Phillips followed with an RBI double off the fence in right field to score Ness
- Graduate student Matt Snyder made the start on the hill and had three strikeouts in six innings of action while sophomore Andrew Sagrestano posted three strikeouts in three innings of relief to earn the win
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian registered 12 hits on the day with Superka going 2-for-6 with a run
- Vozzo added two hits and a run while Ness registered two hits, a run and a double
- Phillips had a double and two RBIs while Keitsock recorded a triple and a pair of RBIs
- Rabosky and Rodriguez both had a hit and scored once while Loiacono added a hit and an RBI and Werkheiser had one hit
- Between games, the Hounds honored graduate student outfielder Joey Richmond and seniors pitcher Stefano Garofalo, pitcher Ross Huffman, infielder James Ruban III, pitcher Max Sponheimer and first baseman Sean Superka for their careers at Moravian
