Greyhounds Drop Landmark Conference Doubleheader to Susquehanna
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University baseball team dropped a Landmark Conference doubleheader to visiting Susquehanna University at Gillespie Field Saturday, falling 7-3 and 10-5.

How It Happened – Game #1
- The River Hawks jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning
- Susquehanna added a run in the top of the third frame for a 5-0 edge
- The Greyhounds got on the scoreboard with a single run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 5-1. Sophomore left fielder Troy Rabosky led off the inning with a single, and he raced home on a throwing error after a double from freshman second baseman Jack Cappo
- The River Hawks got the run back in the top of the fifth to set the score at 6-1
- The Blue & Grey answered in the bottom of the fifth as junior catcher Ryan Kessler hit a leadoff solo home run to center field to cut the deficit to 6-2. The homer was the first of Kessler's career
- Susquehanna tacked on a run in the top of the ninth frame
- The Hounds finished off the scoring with a run in the bottom of the ninth when Kessler once again led off the inning with a solo home run to right field
- Senior Ross Huffman started on the mound and had a pair of strikeouts in four innings of action. Junior Nick Leonard also tossed four innings while freshman Sean Heissler pitched an inning and had two strikeouts
How It Happened – Game #2
- Moravian jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning in the series finale. Freshman right fielder John Phillips led off the inning with a walk while sophomore shortstop David Vozzo hit an infield single. Rabosky followed with a three-run homer to left field, his team-leading fifth home run of the season and the 12th of his career
- The Blue & Grey added a run in the bottom of the second frame for a 4-0 advantage. Sophomore third baseman Owen Ness drew a one-out walk and stole second. He moved to third on a flyout by Phillips before touching the plate when Vozzo reached on an error
- After being held scoreless through the first three innings, Susquehanna scored at least once in each of the next six innings. The River Hawks plated two runs in the fourth inning, one each in the fifth, sixth and seven innings, three in the eighth and two in the ninth to take a 10-4 lead
- The Greyhounds scored once in the bottom of the ninth frame and left the bases loaded. Phillips and Vozzo drew walks while senior first baseman Sean Superka was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Sophomore center fielder Luke Keitsock was also hit by a pitch to push Phillips home
- Graduate student Matt Snyder made the start on the hill, and he had four strikeouts in six innings of work. Sophomore Andrew Sagrestano tossed 1.1 innings with two strikeouts while junior Ryan Hoffman tossed the final 1.2 innings
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian registered 12 hits on the day with Kessler having three hits, two homers, a double, two runs and two RBIs
- Vozzo also recorded three hits with a pair of doubles, a run and an RBI while Rabosky added two hits, two runs, three RBIs and a homer
- Cappo posted a pair of hits while Phillips had a hit, two runs and a double
- Superka contributed a double while Keitsock had an RBI and Ness scored once
