Moravian Drops Doubleheader at Elizabethtown
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian University baseball squad dropped a Landmark Conference doubleheader at Elizabethtown College Sunday, falling 14-4 in eight innings and 12-6.

How It Happened – Game #1
- The Greyhounds jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Freshman right field Jack Cappo, sophomore shortstop David Vozzo and sophomore left field Troy Rabosky all drew walks to start the game and load the bases. Senior first baseman Sean Superka connected on an RBI single to center as Cappo scored, and junior catcher Ryan Kessler drew a walk to push Vozzo across the plate
- The Blue Jays got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning with run to cut the score to 2-1
- Elizabethtown added three runs in the fourth frame, and the Blue Jays plated two more runs in the fifth to make it 6-2
- Etown scored once in the sixth and four times in the seventh to stretch the advantage to 11-2
- Moravian pushed home two runs in the top of the eighth. Rabosky was hit by a pitch and Superka reached on a fielder's choice as Rabosky moved to third. Sophomore center fielder Luke Keitsock connected on an RBI single score Rabosky while sophomore third baseman Owen Ness had an RBI single to bring home Keitsock
- The Blue Jays scored three times in the eighth for the run-rule to end the game
- Senior Ross Huffman started on the hill and had a pair of strikeouts in 4.2 innings of work. Sophomore Cam Elicier tossed 1.1 innings with a strikeout while sophomore Chase Wengryn pitched an inning. Senior Max Sponheimer had two-thirds of an inning of work
How It Happened – Game #2
- The Hounds took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning in game two. Vozzo hit a one-out single, stole second base and scored on a wild pitch
- The Blue Jays countered with a run in the bottom of the second to knot the score
- The Greyhounds moved back ahead, 2-1, with a run in the top of the third. Vozzo had a one-out triple and scampered home on an RBI groundout from Rabosky
- Elizabethtown answered with a run in the fifth frame to make it 2-2
- Moravian scored four times in the top of the sixth for a 6-2 advantage. Rabosky reached on an error to get things going while Superka ripped an RBI double to score Rabosky. Keitsock added a hit before junior right fielder Domenic Venini had an infield RBI single to bring Superka home. Ness added an RBI single to score Keitsock while freshman second baseman Jack Cappo added an RBI double as Venini touched the plate
- The Blue Jays plated ten runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take control
- The Hounds scored once in the top of the ninth to finish off the scoring. Vozzo and Superka with both hit by pitches while Keitsock walked to load the bases before Kessler had an RBI walk to push Vozzo home
- Graduate student Matt Snyder made the start on the mound, and he had one strikeout in 5.1 innings of action. Sophomore Andrew Sagrestano and junior Caden Ward both tossed two-thirds of an inning while junior Nick Leonard had a strikeout in a third of an inning. Junior Wes Griffith pitched one inning and recorded two strikeouts
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian recorded 15 hits in the doubleheader with Superka going 4-for-8 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run
- Vozzo was 3-for-7 with four runs and a triple while Keitsock had a 3-for-8 day with two runs and an RBI
- Ness registered a pair of hits with two RBIs while Cappo added a hit, a run, a double and an RBI
- Venini contributed a hit, a run and an RBI while junior designated hitter Matt Westcott had a hit
- Rabosky scored twice and had an RBI while Kessler drove in a pair of runs
