Greyhounds Drop Opening Game of Landmark Conference Series at Scranton
SCRANTON, Pa. --- The Moravian University baseball team dropped an 18-8, eight-inning decision to host The University of Scranton Tuesday in the opening game of a Landmark Conference series.

How It Happened
- The Royals jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning
- The Greyhounds got onto the scoreboard with a run in the top of the third frame to cut the deficit 3-1. Sophomore shortstop David Vozzo drew a walk and would eventually steal home as sophomore lef fielder Troy Rabosky stole second after reaching on an error
- The Blue & Grey tied the contest at 3-3 with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning. Junior designated hitter David Rodriguez and sophomore catcher Ronnie Werkheiser were both hit by pitches with two outs. After junior Domenic Venini came on to pinch run for Werkheiser, sophomore center fielder Luke Keitsock connected on a two-RBI double as Rodriguez and Venini raced around the bases
- Scranton countered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth to move back ahead 5-3
- The Royals plated six runs in the bottom of the fifth frame to stretch the edge to 11-3
- Moravian pushed two runs home in the top of the sixth to make it 11-5. Freshman second baseman Jack Cappo connected on a one-out solo home run. After another out, junior pitcher Ryan Hoffman and Keitsock hit back-to-back doubles with Hoffman touching the plate
- Scranton got the two runs back in the bottom of the sixth inning to set the score at 13-5
- The Hounds added a run in the top of the seventh when Vozzo was hit by a pitch and eventually scored on an error by the Royals
- The Royals score once in the bottom of the seventh frame to make it 14-6
- Moravian countered with a pair of runs in the top of the eight to get within 14-8. Rodriguez led off with a single before sophomore pinch hitter Matt Westcott drew a walk. Keitsock connected on an RBI sacrifice fly to bring in Rodriguez while Westcott scored on an RBI single from sophomore third baseman Owen Ness
- Scranton scored four times in the bottom of the eighth to end the game with the ten-run rule
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian collected nine hits with Keitsock going 3-for-3 with four RBIs and two double
- Vozzo went 2-for-3 with two runs while Rodriguez had a hit and a run and Hoffman had a double and scored a run
- Cappo hit his first career homer while Ness added a hit and an RBI
- Westcott and Venini both scored once
- Sophomore Andrew Sagrestano started on the mound and struck out four batters in 4.2 innings. Freshman Sean Heissler faced five batters while Hoffman tossed two innings with one strikeout. Freshman Rocco Viscito pitched a third of an inning while junior Wes Griffith was on the mound for the final two-thirds of an inning
